Simply Organic is a family owner and run business that supplies it’s plant based hair care, skin care, bath & body and lifestyle accessories to some of the finest salons, boutiques, hotels and spas around the world! (I love Minnesota!)  Each product seems to have Olive Leaf Leaf Extract in it, and their label has a photo of the Olive tree, stating “The Tree of Life.”

Simply Organics main focus is hair care, and after sampling thier Everyday Hair & Scalp Wash and Everyday Hair & Scalp Rinse I know why!

It is gentle, I can use it all the way down to my ends (which for black and blue reasons is important right now).  It is a remarkable shampoo for every other day use, and my hair is illustrious and shiny even on that second day! Truth be told, it is even shiny (not from oil) on the third day before I hope in the shower.  I can tell it has been giving some life and strength back to my hair, plus it gives added protection even before applying conditioner.  It smells delicious, like a a vanilla wafer dipped in lemon pie.  Plus being certified organic isn’t too shabby either right?

So I have been following that up with a dose of their Everyday Hair & Scalp Rinse.  I think it is far to often that women don’t nourish their scalps.  I apply a natural oil to my scalp at least one night a week, and let it soak in over night, and when i condition, I apply a little to my roots too, close the cuticle baby!  The conditioner is responsible for replacing any essential oils that might be lost in washing your hair.  So important.  Plus, any moisture that might be lost on your scalp, after all the scalp is skin, and you always moisturize your skin right?  It also aides in protecting and strengthening.  I can feel it working, love the avocado oil in it.  Normally if I were to pick out my own conditioner, I always go for the heavy hitters.  But this was actually spot on for my hair right now.  There is so much added weight to my ends with the crappy color, that my hair is weighed down.  This conditioner is effective, but yet light weight, plus it smells like oranges.

A few days ago I told you that I had stopped using body washes altogether, for a couple of reasons, one was the waste, I don’t need an extra bottle being thrown in the recycling bin, but two, I love handmade bar soap!  I would take a picture of how many I am using, or rather how many I have opened right now, but it is embarrassing!   After using Simply Organics Everyday Moisurizing Body Wash those bar soaps are getting a new partner in the rotation game!  Great “latherablity” (nice word) and leaves my skin nice and balanced.  A little pricey for my pocket book at $34 for 16.5 oz. It did win a  2009 Natural Solutions, Beauty with a Conscience Award though, so that tells you how good it is!  They do have Shea Bar soap, but I haven’t gotten a chance to try it out.

The Everyday Moisturizing Body Lotion.  I use a lot of oils at night to keep my dry skin hydrated, but during the day, I want something less greasy!  This is deep moisture, with out the heaviness and greasiness.  Made with olive oil, shea butter and safflower oil it is great that they were able to keep it that way!

I could be a little off as they don’t tell you what is in them.But I do KNOW that I loved the scent.   They leaked in route to me, so I didn’t get quite the intended amount. The Bohemian Blue Organic lotion is super anti-oxidant rich and combines certified organic botanicals with proven age defying elements to provide real results as it pampers the skin. Great light weight moisturizer,m and was perfect for the summer time! Scent and all! The Bohemian Blue Body Wash is nice and silky to the touch, has a great sudsy lather. Created with moisturizing coconut!

Citrine Rose Hydrating Body Wash is a luxurious, moisturizing body wash. Quite soft and nice bright bubbles of bursting citrus! Coconut-based body wash provides conditioning, moisturizing, and anti-aging benefits while citrine, white jasmine and blue rose provide a luminous, feminine feel. Includes many essential oils including citrus and rose.  The scent really was quite outstanding.  I used this as a body wash once, and then as a bubble bath once.  very nice! I have been using these products for a couple of months.   The first thing I noticed is that that my skin felt a little warm after applying, but I soon realized that you don’t have to leave the gel on, you can wipe it off after 20 minutes.  Heck I was trying to where it all day!

In the bath, this just feels amazing!  I really felt my muscles just melting.  I have been having some knee issues, and bathing the flakes and a little peppermint oil has helped!

I can’t say for sure that it has helped me with nervousness or sleep, but I think I need horse tranquilizers to help me there!  What I did notice that is more important then anything else…. It has decreased the length of my migraines.  Typically when I get one, it lasts for weeks or months.  Most of mine lately have been lasting a day, or two tops.   That to me, is so huge, so meaningful, and so priceless!

What I do to absorb the magnesium?   If I am getting ready to take a shower, I might use the spray, and spray my underarms, back and legs, do a few chores for about 20 minutes then hop in the shower and proceed as normal.  Some days I just apply to my arms and legs, and about 20 minutes later I use a wash cloth and wipe it off.  It turns a little chalky once dry on the skin.

I think you all know I am a bath whore. I love them.  And they love me.  I create a warm, not hot bath, and add the flakes, step in and relax for 15-20 minutes.  That is it!  I don’t always remember to this everyday, but I try to at least 3 times a week.

City Girl Naturals was founded my owner and creator, Michaela, several years ago when she was having skin issues. She started mixing, and trying new recipes. Plus researching and studying skin care, nutrition and natural medicine. One she started, she hasn’t been able to stop! Moisturizing products are suitable for normal to dry skin. These products tend to contain more humectant properties to aid the skin in attracting and retaining moisture. Ultra rich products and body cremes will be in this category.

Nourishing products are more suited for dry and mature skin. Nourishing products tend to be a bit heavier, so really shouldn’t be used by people with oily or problem skin such as acne. Products in this category include body balms and skin oils.

Therapeutic products are specialty products for particular needs. They will contain specific ingredients to meet a specific need and will be noted as such.

I am soft and silky today! Thanks to City Girl Natural’s Brown Sugar & Vanilla Scrub: An organic brown sugar scrub with nourishing oils and vanilla.  Perfect for toes and elbows, but since sugar melts, it is also fantastic for a great mini-manicure! It is a balanced scent with that hint of spice from vanilla but the sweetness of brown sugar.

Her Hydrating Body Mist is delicious! I have been trying out the Lavender/Vanilla scent. I love freshening my hair with it. I am not usually one for super sweet scents, and I was a little leery.  but the woods and musks they added really balance this fragrance well.

I wanted to have more then just myself review this, as I am already younger then Craig by about 13 years.  So I employed my mom, and my SIL.  They both fell for the scent.  They also stated that not only did it make them feel different, but seemed to make their husbands take a little more notice.

Craig liked the scent on me, but I am not sure I want him to think I am 8 years younger!  He might start bossing me around!  I agree 100% that it made me feel a little flirty, and fun. I can’t say specifically younger, but it seemed to make me pretty happy!

Seabuckthorn International Review and Giveaway

Seabuckthorn is a very hardy plant which grows well in the Central Plains of North America. Its botanical name is Hippophae Rhamnoides L. which means “bright shining horse.” Seabuckthorn contains 194 known nutritional compounds in the seeds, fruit and leaves. Seabuckthorn International carries numerous products, ranging from cleansing bars, skin creams, acne line, rosacea line, teas, oils, 3 kinds of capsules, newly introduced salves and even hair care.

Craig and I both really enjoyed the cleansing bars. They lather up nicely, but do not strip the skin, yet leaves you clean, and with a slight berry scent, the scent would not be able to be noticed by anyone else, but is a nice little pick me up in the morning shower. The Cleansing Bars contain seabuckthorn seed oil with its valuable Omega 3 and Omega 6, and Omega 9 and seabuckthorn fruit oil with Omega 7 or palmitoleic acid which is similar in structure to the fatty acids in our skin. I have noticed a dramatic decrease in body breakouts since I have been using the bar, and also noticed a decrease of sensitivity in Craig’s skin since using.

I have been taking the SBT Capsules for a couple of months now. Because I use so many skin products to try and help my facial acne, it is hard to say if this is the one supplement has done the deed, or if it has been a combination. I can say that my skin does not seem nearly as dry as it normally is. I do know one thing, my lips are usually so dry (lip balm addict) and this is the first time I can remember not putting it on, first thing in the morning and last thing I do at night. I know it has been working on AT LEAST that, b/c I haven’t been using anything else.

The After-Sun Cream, really seemed to help Craig one day. He had went to an Indian’s baseball game (our minor league) and gotten way too much sun on his arms and nose. I actually applied the straight oil to his nose and the next day it seemed much better. The cream really took the sting out of his arms too. Craig is pretty fair skinned, so this was a major feat!

I was sent the Acai Necklace to try out.  Shown below is the multi color, but I actually have the pollen color.  It works with just about any outfit.  jeans, and a white top, black top, just about anything can get dressed up with this necklace.  I like it because it has some weight to keep in place, but isn’t so heavy that you want to take it off after wearing it for a few hours.  The beads/seeds are also really smooth.  The Acai seeds are hand dyed.

I love anything that is fair trade, but the fact that the Andean Collection actually allows their artisans to be part shareholders, is just that much cooler. and that much more of a reason to purchase from them.

They carry aromatherapy, herbs, spices, clays, teas resins, butters, salves, syrups, and well, just about anything you might go looking for!

Craig and I have been put to the task of trying out a few of their new Good Trade Spices. I have to admit, we aren’t complaining one little bit! So far my favorite is the Grilling Spice, all organic ingredients include: Garlic, Rosemary, Thyme, Black Pepper and other spices. This was so outstanding on my corn on the cob, I didn’t even use butter. We also tried in on pork chops, and some roasted eggplant. It is really outstanding.

One that I have been using a lot indoors is their Smoked Sea Salt. This Pacific Sea Salt is slow smoked over real Pacific Alder wood, giving it an authentic and full bodied smoke flavor. What I really love is that it doesn’t leave a lingering charcoal flavor, and can be used so easily inside to pair with anything that has been grilled outdoors. I added a little to my last batch of Mac-n-Cheese. and wow, did it really make all the different cheese flavors pop.

I also love Lemon Pepper, and my contact at Mountain Rose Herbs, said that I just had to try this. I have only used it in my salad dressings so far, (olive oil, lemon juice and this herb) and I am and I wonder how I lived with the grocery store variety!

I have all of these, Smoked Sea Salt, Lemon Pepper, Grilling Herbs, West Indies Rub, Mexican Seasoning and lastly Thai Curry for one Prissy Green Reader! The Mexican Seasonings have been a new staple for our tacos.
