I have 7 nieces and nephews and buying for them for the Holidays can about make me go broke. And me being the good auntie that I am, have to get them GOOD gifts. And to me good gifts=green gifts! So imagine how thrilled I was when I was contacted to do a review for Apericots! Organic Baby Clothing.
Many people understand the wisdom in choosing organic food, but why should we wear organic cotton clothing? Well, there are many good reasons:
Conventional cotton farming takes an enormous toll on the air, water, soil and people who live in cotton growing areas. In the United States, 1/3 Pound of agricultural chemicals are typically used in the production of a single cotton T-shirt. (www.organicconsumers.org)
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, seven of the top 15 pesticides used on U.S. cotton crops are potential or known human carcinogens.
Organic cotton is, like all other organic fibers, grown without the use of toxic chemical pesticides and fertilizers. Farmers that grow organic cotton use crop rotation as an alternative to agrochemicals and artificial fertilizers. Organic cotton baby clothes are also manufactured without the use of toxic chemicals. This means that, while in the manufacturing process, the clothes will not be subjected to dyes or bleaches, nor will they be sprayed with formaldehyde to preserve their “fresh look” before shipping.
During the conversion of conventional cotton into clothing, numerous toxic chemicals are added at each stage – harsh petroleum scours, softeners, brighteners, heavy metals, flame and soil retardants, ammonia and formaldehyde – to name just a few. A baby’s skin is more porous and thinner than an adults. That means that their skin absorbs things very easily. Children are at greater risk for pesticide-related health problems than adults.
Organic cotton has softer, longer fibers than conventional cotton, so the resulting fabric is softer, thicker, and more durable. Organic cotton is especially great for infants and children. Whereas pesticide and chemically-treated clothing traps heat and prevents skin from absorbing adequate moisture—often causing rashes and eczema on sensitive skin—organic cotton is natural and breathable.
Children with allergies particularly benefit, as organic cotton does not have the residual toxic residues that linger on conventional cotton. Even those without sensitive skin find organic cotton more comfortable and kid-friendly. (www.happygreenbee.com)

I tried out the Beckon’s Organics Strength Yoga Pants. Most of my yoga attire pants are capri’s. Now that it is fall, our house can get drafty on overcast days. So I was thrilled when I put these on, they were long enough. The quickly became my new very best friend. Perfect fit. I do have hips and a butt, some yoga wares don’t account for this. Beckon’s does. I can talk about exercising longer then actually doing it, but these make me look as fit as a yogi. I just love that about Yoga gear, these seem to have it a little more. They aren’t tight, just hug the right curves and ignore the curves you don’t want hugged.
I can see why this is the Yoga Line that New Terra Living decided to carry.
And talk about comfort. The organic cotton breaths, and the spandex gives me flexibility. I actually did the Yoga Pulse Express DVD as well as a Tai Chi DVD this weekend, and they worked perfectly. Gave me movement, and coverage. Definitely a pant I need in all colors! Well minus black. All black pants just end up covered in dog hair. =)

KOA Clothing Review and Giveaway
I never used to be much of a T-shirt gal, but now that I work at home, I would have to call myself one! I don’t want to be labeled as a Pajama wearer! Love my cute t-shirts and yoga pants to pieces!
When I stumbled across KOA I was thrilled! It seems like most of the cute tee’s I see around blogland are geared towards mothers, or maternity type wear. KOA Organic Clothing has cool, fresh designs, and they are all organic and the inks used are all water based. Bonus points!
The idea and the creations come from the KOA sisters, and they admit, the designs come from nature, ideals and even random thoughts.
An extra little bonus of fresh squeezed loved from the KOA gals, they sew a fortune into every shirt design. Hoping the fortune makes a few smiles work their magic in that beautiful circle.
I choose to review the Lion Tee. I have so many girly colored tees, I thought I would rock out some red! Isn’t he sweet? The tee fits great, I always get a large for the girls, but I could probably handle a medium, they are ladies sizes, not mens! The cotton is soft and plush, not overly thin, great for under a sweater in the fall!
