How to Roast a Lamb Review and Giveaway
A rising star in the food world, Michael Psilakis is co-owner of a growing empire of modern Mediterranean restaurants, and one of the most exciting young chefs in America today. In How to Roast a Lamb: New Greek Classic Cooking, the self-taught chef offers recipes from his restaurants and his home in this, his much-anticipated first cookbook.
A key point to me? The recipes are on one page or dual pages, and the photos are on others. So no interfering with page turning while cooking. love it!
Psilakis’s cooking utilizes the fresh, naturally healthful ingredients of the Mediterranean augmented by techniques that define New American cuisine.
Home cooks who have gravitated toward Italian cookbooks for the simple, user-friendly dishes, satisfying flavors, and comfortable, family-oriented meals, will welcome Psilakis’s approach to Greek food, which is similarly healthful, affordable, and satisfying to share any night of the week.
This book is not for the beginning chef. Most of these recipes do call for some experience, but there are also quite a few that are simple to prepare and have rather simple, but tasty ingredients.
If anything, this book is a coffee table book. It is just gorgeous! It would make a beautiful gift either for the Holidays or as a Hostess gift for all the holiday parties coming up!
I have one hard cover copy of How to Roast a Lamb: New Greek Classic Cooking for one Prissy Green reader!
To enter, tell me your 3 traditional Thanksgiving dishes.

Story Jewelry Painting Giveaway (Etsy!)
Hi Prissy Green readers! I’m Samantha Cummings, and Karissa has kindly let me invade her blog to tell you a little about me and to offer a prize! You will usually find me over at Priceless Writers, creating non-fiction projects for clients…but there are a great many other things I enjoy creating. My salvaged wood paintings are near the very top of that list!
Children love looking at whimsical, fun things – pictures, toys and even photographs. With their little imaginations, they can turn a ladybug on a leaf into the heroine of a tale or a cupcake into a magic food made by elves that sneak around in kitchens at night. I think that’s really great, and think more adults should have that ability!
These paintings are done in acrylics on salvaged wood – my fiancé is a carpenter and so before he throws away the scraps from a job, I sneak out to the truck in my ninja clothes and ski-mask and confiscate them! This process looks a lot like me saying, “Honey, can you put that wood in the garage for me, por favor?”
With each painting, I try to capture something fun, whimsical or magical. They’re not only appealing to children, either…the roses seem to be a favorite among adult women. I plan on adding many more things in the coming weeks and months – including more paintings for little boys, some beaded jewelry and other creations. I hope you’ll visit often!
Okay back to Karissa time here at Prissy Green! I just love Samantha’s writing and her paintings too! So much that Samantha is sending my niece this beautiful Cupcake Painting!

Can you see the sparkling sugar sprinkled on top? As I told Samantha, there isn’t a whole lot my niece loves more then food, but she really loves clothes, and PINK! She gets her eating habits from me, and the fashion habits from her mom, my sister-in-law, and of course her Grandma, my mom!
Samantha has chosen this painting as a giveaway item for one of you Prissy Green readers! To enter, head over to her shop at Etsy named Story Jewelry and pick out your favorite painting. Or better yet, have the little one you want to win it for pick it out!
Unless you want it for yourself! I am rather keen on the You are My Sunshine/Flower above myself! I think this would make a magical Christmas present for a little one’s room.

TJ Maxx and Marshalls, Review and Giveaway
I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun I had at TJ Maxx a couple weeks ago. I went in, with my $25 gift card in hand, and told myself the only way I would go over that, is for $5 or a winter coat. Notice the OR? Not both.
I walked out with a new winter coat, a sweet Marmot Fleece, a perfect brown sweater and hand weights. Thanks goodness I am a green beauty blogger, or I would have spent so much more on the skincare section.
And thank goodness secondly, that I have already agreed to a handbag review, so I only glanced at them. And yes, i do mean, that I only glanced. I was scared to look!
Let me show you some of my finds! I was snapping pictures left and right!
This sweater is really soft, and comfy. I always buy a sweater in this color to top any outfit that needs a warm up! I wear them out too! Notice is usually retails for at least $70. At Tj’s for only $34.99
And honestly, this picture doesn’t do it justice, but my camera is at a friends house today, so no additional shots.
and I also spotted this Anne Klein Sweater. How pretty is it? I didn’t buy this, but wanted to prove they have hot brands!
And this awesome Columbia coat. I wanted it… but I put it back. It appeared they had one in every size too. Only $49.99, I know these go for about $200. (kicking myself for not getting it!)
I don’t think you can tell from this photo, but this coat is really snazzy. It is quilted, but not too thick and “fluffy.” I have to buy coats that will not attract dog hair, and I fell in love with this one. for $39! Again, this photo really does not do it justice, it is dressier then it appears. I saw plenty of Anne Klein, Nine West, Roxy and more.
And then I also got a half zip Marmot Pull Over Fleece. It is a purple burgundy, and I love it. Already wore it!
They had so much skin care too! I was falling on myself. Organic and natural! Plus yoga mats, and just about any accessory you could want for exercise. I didn’t even attempt housewares. Our house is full!
If you are on a budget (who isn’t?) go get some of the gift sets for skin care, or fragrance for Christmas!
DDF, Borba, Organix, L’Oreal all top price products that they carry for such low prices! hello Origins!
The harder I tried to make it to the Marshalls near me, the more it seemed like I wasn’t supposed to! one day was a bad accident near the store, sat in traffic for an hour. Then the next time, an truck carrying propane hit a bridge and well, blew up. TJ Maxx is down the street, but Marshalls is about 30-45 minutes away, depending on which one. But my plan is to make it there this week and look for some boots.
So Tj Maxx and Marshalls have offered up 1 $25 gift card to each store! Two winners! To enter to win, visit either store and tell me what you would buy, and at which store. Nothing specific, just what you would like to replace. It is a recession mamas, but that deosn’t mean we don’t want to look good!

Altru sent me a their Unity Candleto review. By far the best smelling and prettiest candle I have ever owned! Gorgeous, hammered copper vessel with a soy blend candle inside. Plus the packaging it comes in can be reused for gift giving, or storage! The scent fragrances the whole room, and lately has become my bathing candle. I love to soak, and this what I soak to the scent of!
The Unity collection is inspired by the sensual fusion of Burmese sandalwood & honey. Legend has it that Cupid dipped his love arrows in honey before aiming at unsuspecting lovers. Thus, the name Unity comes from this symbolic meaning of honey – the uniting of two people hopelessly in love.

Soy Delites Review and Giveaway
Really who doesn’t love a great scented candle? The trick is finding either Beeswax or Soy Candles that have enough natural scent that they can scent an entire room! When I was contacted to do a review for Soy Delites, I was happy to give them a go! And even more excited when I tried their Cucumber Melon, and it scented my entire great room. We have an open concept to our house, where our kitchen, living and dining (which we use as an office) are all pretty much open to each other. When you would walk in the front door or another room it smelled wonderful! When you smell the actually candle, it smells just like cucumber melon, but the burn scent is even better imo.
Soy candles do not emit the soot that are characteristic of paraffin candles. While the combustion of paraffin candles produces a considerable amount of soot, the combustion of soy wax candles produces little to no soot. Not only do paraffin candles leave black residue on the containers they were burned in, but prolonged use of these candles can stain your walls, ceilings, curtains or blinds, and even carpets or rugs.
To date, the EPA (or any other organization) has not conclusively studied the long term health issues that may arise from burning paraffin wax candles compared to burning soy candles. However, the EPA did find organic chemicals and known carcinogens, such as formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, and acrolein in paraffin wax. In addition, Rezaei et al. studied the combustion characteristics of soy, paraffin and beeswax candles, and they concluded that measurable amounts of formaldehyde were detected when burning paraffin candles. We need to do further testing to clearly and unequivocally examine the potential health hazards of being exposed to possible respiratory irritants from paraffin candles compared to beeswax, soy wax and other vegetable wax candles.
Another benefit of soy wax is that it is a biodegradable product. This means it cleans up easily with just soap and warm water. You no longer have to worry about the mess paraffin makes when cleaning up your candleholders. Plus the glass that Soy Delites 5 oz and 9 oz candles are made in, can later double as a drinking glass! They have a pretty texture, and the label comes off extremely easily.
Lastly, soy wax has a much lower melting point compared to paraffin wax. Therefore, soy candles burn slower and last between 30 to 50% longer than paraffin candles of the same size.
We also sampled their tealights, and their Vanilla Scented Candle. Their tealights are fantastic, as they last for so long!! Great for some of my aromatherapy burners, as it helps that I don’t get just one use out of one tea light!
Craig and I are quite picky about Vanilla. We aren’t really fans of the fake French Vanilla Scent. This candle has the true blue Vanilla working! A sweet and nutty Madagascar vanilla with hints of chocolate and buttercream. YUM! This candle was a 5 oz. and has lasted forever! I love that the Soy Delites last so much longer, it encourages me to burn them more often then typically burn candles.
I have a great prize to giveaway to you from Soy Delites! I have a 5 oz., 9 oz. and a multi-pack of tealights, the 5 oz. and 9 oz. in your choice of scents! This is a value of $29.50! To enter to win, head over to the Soy Delites site and tell me what candle you would choose and of course what scent, if you could choose if you could pick anything to try!
