Make Your Own Hand Sanitizer

Sanitizer can be a necessity, especially during this crazy flu season. Sometimes you are places where just after you wash your hands, you have to place them somewhere questionable. OR maybe you just can’t get to water?
Just don’t overuse them!
I like to have wipes around me too, Avalon Organics makes a nice baby wipe that is flushable and biodegradable. It won’t clean you hands of germs, but if you have dirt caked hands, you probably don’t want to rub sanitizer all over them. Wipe can be so invaluable to travel with. Wiping knobs, seats, arm rests, toys you name it!
Keep in mind, you don’t need alcohol to kill germs, essential oils can take care of that. That is why inhaling them can be so good for you while sick. Tea Tree over a hot steamy sink, helps you heal and breath!
So I have a pretty simple recipe for you today. Some of you may have all the ingredients in your house. I almost always do minus the witch hazel. I pretty much always have a bottle around. I have been making this for years! it is great for camping, which is why I first created it!
DIY Hand Sanitizer
Ingredients:
3/4 cup of aloe vera gel (NOT liquid, get the gel!)
1 teaspoon of oil (jojoba or grapeseed is perfect)
3 1/2 tablespoons of Witch Hazel (try and find pure, 100% witch hazel, if you can’t that is fine)
1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar
8 drops of Lemon Essential Oil
8 Drops of Orange Essential Oil
8 drops of Grapefruit Oil
10 drops tee tree oil
Make sure you don’t use metal bowls, and if you have a spoon around that is plastic, or plastic coated use that for mixing. Mix very well. place into a small travel shampoo bottle. Preferably one that doesn’t unscrew, but you can use to squirt just a little out in your palm.
And Congratulations! add a dollop to your hands, and rub thoroughly!
Make a few of these, and tuck in lunch boxes, cars, purses, backpacks, and anywhere you might find yourself with out soap and water!
Good luck and stay healthy!!

Blooming Lotus Review and Giveaway
When I happened upon Blooming Lotus, I knew I had found a company I had to bring you, and also a friend in Jen the owner and operator. A gal after my heart, with the music she has traveled to see, and the business she has opened.
The first item that caught my eye was Blooming Lotus’s Aromatherapy Mister’s. They have several scents to choose from, which is a real treat.
This is one of the simplest ways to incorporate aromatherapy into your daily life. For a quick pick-me-up or air freshener you can spritz your face, your linens, or your car with our blend of pure essential oils and gem essences.
Fairy Mist- Uplifting and intoxicating with notes of neroli, frankincense, lime and gem essence of carnelian and amethyst
Groundation Mist- Centering with notes of sustainable sandalwood, cedarwood, bergamot and gem essence of smoky quartz
Soulshine Mist- Inspirational and bright with with notes of mandarin, tangerine, neroli, spearmint and gem essence of citrine
Sublime Mist- Sensuous and alluring with notes of sweet orange, rosewood, cocoa, ylang ylang and gem essence of lapis lazuli
Ingredients: distilled water, organic hydrosol, organic grain alcohol, polysorbate 20, essential oils, gem essence, & love
I have the Groundation Mist, and I am nearly out. Everytime I walk by it, or see it, I spray it. Either on me, or in the air. It is such a gorgeous scent. Uplifting and happy. But not too roubust or fragrant. Just right for summer or fall.
You all know that I am not a big fan of chocolate or chocolate scents, but I totally changed my tune for Blooming Lotus’s Chocolate Rose Body Polish. A luscious exfoliating body scrub sloughs off dry flaky skin to reveal your true glow. Organic milled cane sugar gently exfoliates dull skin cells. Anti-oxidant powerhouse organic chocolate works double duty as a free radical scavenger and a calorie free fix. Organic jojoba and cocoa butter moisturize while organic honey seals the deal by drawing moisture to the skin. I think why I really dug this, is because it was pure balance. The chocolate balanced the rose, and the rose did the same for the chocolate. Not too sweet, and not too fragrant of flower. It scrubbed my body good and clean, and left it smooth and ridiculously hydrated!
The last product is my absolute favorite. I will be reordering. I have never loved a hand soap, like I love this hand soap. The scent made me fall in love first, and if you ever get a chance to sniff it, you will know why, but the softness it has brough upon my mittens, is the second reason. If I could afford to take a full page out in the newspaper to talk about this I would. Or if Indiana had mountains i would climb them and sing it’s praises from the mountain tops. but alas, we have no mountains. Rosemary Lemon Verbana Liquid HandSoap. Yum Yum. The scent makes me sniff my hands every single time I wash. I really need a jar of this for each sink in the house. I had it at my sink in the bathroom first, then I moved it to the kitchen, then I wanted it back at my sink. I couldn’t decided. I finally left it at the kitchen sink. I didn’t want to hog it. =)
I also tried their soap, but I truly don’t remember what scent we tried. I think Craig opened it, and although I have told him to place the wrappers on my sink, he only does this about half the time. But if it was anything like the liquid soap, it is surely going to give you soft skin, and scent nicely!
