Vaska Moving on Up!

VASKA, a Berkeley based producer of green, botanically based laundry care products for the commercial, institutional and consumer markets, is pleased to announce that it has introduced its green laundry chemical system to Winter Park Resort in Winter Park, Colorado (www.winterparkresort.com), an Intrawest property (www.intrawest.com), making it the first resort to wash with green chemicals.
VASKA has changed the rules of commercial laundry by introducing a plant-based ‘herbatergent’ that was honored with the EPA’s SDSI (Safer Detergents Stewardship Initiative) designation and other environmentally responsible biodegradable products that clean as effectively as traditional chemicals without damaging linens in the process. Vaska competes load for load on price and quality with traditional chemical approaches. The health of laundry workers and the local environment is a top priority, avoiding exposure to petroleum based detergents and solvents.
Michelle Petersen, Uniform Services Foreman, introduced Vaska products in the laundry facility that washes uniforms for the resort’s 2000 workers as well as the food and beverage linens for Winter Park’s four company owned restaurants. Petersen brought in Vaska to replace the previous chemical provider whose products were not cost efficient, not effective and not green.
According to Petersen, “The harsh chemicals we were using in our machines were ruining the waterproofing in the outdoor garments worn by the mountain staff. We have more than half a million dollars in high tech gear, and Vaska allows us to get these garments clean and protect our investment.”
Julia Fry, VASKA’s CEO, learned to ski at Winter Park with her family. She has wonderful memories of racing down the mountain with her siblings and cousins, and she is excited to be able to make a contribution to a resort that is a refuge for so many local outdoor enthusiasts.

Men of a Certain Age

A new show on TNT. It actually doesn’t start until 12/7, but I was able to get a sneak peak. About 17 minutes I think?
My first thoughts going into this:
I love Ray Ramono
Show is probably a little too old for me
Either going to remind me of my dad or Craig (craig is 14 years older then me)
MEN OF A CERTAIN AGE explores the unique bonds of male friendship among three men experiencing the changes and challenges of mid-life. They have been best friends since college but now, in their 40s, are navigating through the second act of their lives. Joe (Romano) is a friendly, slightly neurotic, recently separated father of two who had dreams of being a professional golfer. Now he owns and runs a party store. Terry (Bakula) is a laid-back, handsome actor who seems to breeze through life (and women). Lately, he’s spending more time working as a temp than as an actor. And Owen (Braugher) is an overstressed husband and father of three who endures constant criticism from his father, for whom he works as a car salesman.
These friends face very different challenges. Joe, who currently lives in a hotel, tries to connect with his kids and is dipping his toe in the dating pool, while also struggling with the gambling problem that may have ended his marriage. The unmarried Terry scoffs at domestic issues but sometimes wonders if his own single life is all it’s cracked up to be. Owen does everything he can to climb the sales board at his father’s car dealership and keep his cool over the seemingly endless renovation project in the home he can barely afford. Through it all, these men are there for each other when it counts.
I sorta expected more out of the sneak peak. Maybe a few laughs, or some serious moments, but it was all sorta just even. Really just introducing the characters. I will give it a shot, as it airs right after the first episode of the new season of the Closer. All in all, probably won’t be my go to show, but I can definitely see men around my dad’s age and around Craig’s age relating to it.
I am not sure what sex or what age they are really trying to push Men of a Certain Age to? My first guess is mid-forty men. (duh) but I am starting to think it is still geared towards women, as Monday night football is going to interfere with most guys, as the show premeires on Monday December 7th at 10/9 central.
