I admit freely. Korres spoils me. They let me share this fabulous savings, plus they send me goodies to try out and review for you! The first of which today is their Delight Your Lips Color Value Set.
Ladies, this is simply not lipstick. It has the consistency is the tube of lipstick but glides flawlessly and with a layer of moisture you will not believe. I actually let a “new” friend try it while in New York (i mean we were meeting Glee, we all had to get fab with lipsticks right?) and I think she was a little scared to try lipstick again, nervously telling me she hasn’t worn lipstick in years. I quickly told her that was my story until I was sent the LipSticks from Face Facts and Korres As I have told you a couple times here, I fell victim to the lip gloss only craze. Well, get back on the lipstick wagon girls! If you choose correctly, you can a moisturized pout, shine, color and durability.
4 sticks came in my kit. So far I am falling all over Natural Brown and Natural Purple. Lightweight Mango Lipsticks gives sheer hint of color with a glossy finish and sun protection
- Mango butter keeps lips moist and hydrated
- All-natural sun filters protect lips from the highly damaging rays of the sun
- Candelila cera smoothes dry and chapped lips

I have used quite a few cosmetics and natural makeup from Korres but had not used any of their body products. Well this time around I did! I was sent their Guava Value kit featuring the best selling Guava body butter & Guava Showergel and Guava Lip Butter.
The lip butter is so nourishing it is hard top remember there is color included! The color is a nice vibrant but dark pink, not too girlie.
The body butter is incredibly moisture drenching and the scent of the shower gel and the butter is enough to awaken the senses and is quite sexy. not a flower scent to be found!
- Guava is an important source of vitamin C, which stimulates collagen synthesis and restores Skin elasticity and smoothness.
- Guava Body butter, a rich, emollient balm that can be used over the entire body, preferably smoothed onto warm, damp skin, after bathing to lock in moisture. Made with real SHEA BUTTER and SUNFLOWER, ALMOND & AVOCADO OIL.

Ultimate Cloth Review
I do like a clean home. Craig likes a tidy home. until a couple weeks back neither us had attempted to clean the windows. And trust me when i tell you, our house is umm, nearing 3 years old and the windows had never been cleaned. Spring and summer of 2008 there was new construction and you could almost see the dirt roaming around the air.
So when I was sent this new Ultimate Cloth, I knew that was the task to give it. And the oven door. Now please forgive my suck ass Casio ExSlim. No pictures ever come out clear, usually they are blurry. BUT the cleaning of the Ultimate Cloths is phenomenal.

That was performed in about 30 seconds? With a wet but rung out (well) Ultimate cloth. No scrubbing at all. No cleaners at all. Just me and the Ultimate Cloth. Some of the smearing that you can see at the top is the first or second pass and I realized I needed to get some photos.
I did the windows, but each and every picture looks the same, no telltale dirt, no telltale clean streak free shine. I wish I had taken a picture of how much dirt came off on the cloth, I thought the pictures were better, but alas, i got use them for this post and they all look the same.
The cloths were actually simple to use, just wet, ring out well, and start wiping! It took me about 10 minutes to do our windows (bedrooms not included) so 9 windows, that are actually quite tall, and a doorway.
Simply awesome. No scrubbing, no lint, no streaks. Pure awesomeness! No cleaners!
If you want to try an Ultimate Cloth out for yourself, you can right now for only $2.99! Ultimate Cloth for only $2.99!
The cloths are guaranteed and promise to last 5 years of home use!
ftc disclosure: I was sent a 5 pack of cloths for review, but was under no obligation to post a review or a positive review at that. The opinions are my own.

Another ad network for Twitter? Yep. Hey if you have a twitter account and want to do something besides tweet contests sign up for Ad.ly. You can make some money and tweet your regular tweets. I was at a holiday party and we had a long talk about tweeting. One person piped in about Ad.ly and I knew I had to learn more about it!
If you get nervous about tweeting yourself out for cash… well don’t. No one really cares that much anymore do they? As long as you have other topics you tweet about besides just marketing plans and the next way to make $5,333, people shouldn’t delete you.
Quick easy money! it told me I should sell my tweets for $15 a pop! Not sure what I will set it too, but who can’t use $15 for 140 characters? =)

People Towels Review and Giveaway (Closed)
PeopleTowels™ is the newest concept in sustainability – 100% organic cotton, reusable personal hand towels that make going green as easy as drying your hands. Switch from paper towels to PeopleTowels to dry your hands in public facilities to saves trees and reduce waste.
A simple substitute for a paper towel to help us cut down on exposure to other people’s germs in public spaces and reduce paper consumption.
Some seriously disturbing facts:
USA is the #1 user of paper:
“The US, with less than 5% of the world’s people, uses 30% of the world’s paper. Each person in the US uses about 335kg of paper each year– that’s 7 times the world average, even twice the average for industrial countries. China has more than 20% or the world’s population. It uses 11% of the world’s paper, about 27 kg per person. India has 16% of the world’s people, consumes just 1% of the world’s paper, and uses less than 4 kg per person per year. The high level of forest consumption in the U.S. is unsustainable–it’s even less sustainable if adopted by everyone else in the world. If everyone in the world used as much paper as the average American, the world would need 7x as much paper. It’s pretty clear that this planet does not have enough ecological space for American consumption habits.” (From Janet Abramovitz: Senior Researcher of World Watch Paper: Paper Cuts)
Corporations can have a big impact:
5000 employees = Annual savings of $215,000 + 1250 trees + a reduction of 115,000 lbs of landfill waste and conservation of 1,250,000 gal water. PeopleTowels estimates that each person uses 2,400 paper towels at work alone, if they are making approximately 5 trips to a public restroom per day each week. That’s equivalent to a case of C Fold paper towels each year, with a case costing an average of $43. This doesn’t include either the cost savings from waste disposal on the backend.
Corporate Sustainability Programs improve retention rates, public image, and employee morale:
According to the Society for Human Resources Management’s (SHRM) 2007 Green Workplace Survey, 61% of employees whose organization participated in environmentally friendly practices reported that they are “very likely” or “likely” to stay with their current organization because of their organization’s environmentally responsible program. In addition, 36% reported improved employee morale and employees reported strong public image (67%) as the top positive outcome of environmentally responsible programs for organizations.
Paper waste fills our landfills:
According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, paper made up the largest share – 34% – of municipal solid waste in 2006. While about half of paper waste is recovered for recycling or compost, the other half ends up in landfills, where it does not readily decompose. Recycling alone is also not a cure-all; the recycling process, as well as production from virgin pulp uses water, energy and chemicals.
Paper use effects virgin forests and accelerates global warming:
The National Resources Defense Council states that Americans use an average of 741 pounds of paper, per person, each year. Most of the world’s paper supply comes from timber logged in regions that have an ecologically valuable, biologically diverse habitat. The virgin timber-based pulp and paper industry is the third greatest industrial emitter of global warming pollution. Its carbon dioxide emissions are projected to double by 2020. Source: http://www.nrdc.org/land/forests/tissue.asp
I really do hope you take a couple extra moments out and read that statistics above. Send them around, there is a nifty share button. Not because I need the press but this ridiculous, wasteful world of paper towels does.
I know most people sit at home and think there is no way they can live with out paper towels. I enourage you to try. Next trip to the store, instead of buying a case of paper towels try to buy a package or two of the car wash cloths, or the “rags” that every store has. Throw those in a basket onyour counter and place your paper towels in the pantry. I think you will be so surprised at how quickly that becomes your new habit.
I have been using People Towels as a replacement for paper towels when I am NOT at home. First off they are adorable, second they are thin enough to be easily portable. I can’t emphasize enough how clutch they were for my NYC trip. Between the plane, the buss to the hotel, the city, public bathrooms…. yes, very clutch indeed.
Practical yet eco-chic, PeopleTowels are small (approx. 9 x 9 inches), absorbent, light-weight and fast-drying
- Six eco-chic designs
- Machine washable and will last for years of constant use
- Designed with a hang tag for easy access when clipped on a purse or a backpack
- Custom fabrics that are 100% Certified Organic Fair Trade Cotton
- One percent of PeopleTowels’ sales go toward preserving the Earth through the 1% for the Planet program
- Created using eco-friendly dyes that are 100% natural and nontoxic. As with most silk screen fabrics, variations in the printing may occur
People Towels has a special going on until the end of the year. Buy 2 Towels and get a free tote bag!
People Towels would also like to offer one Prissy Green reader a set of 5 People Towels! This is $35 value.

Phthalates, ADHD and Our Children
December 7, 2009 by Karissa

PHTHALATES IN CONSUMER PRODUCTS LINKED TO ADHD
Biological Psychiatry, published a recent study conducted by the Department of Preventive Medicine at the Seoul National University College of Medicine and Institute of Environmental Medicine investigating the impact of phthalates on symptoms of Attention-Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in school-age children. Phthalates were directly linked to the severity of ADHD symptoms.
After measuring the urine phthalate concentrations and evaluating ADHD symptoms in 261 Korean children, ages 8-11 the study found the higher the levels of phthalates in the urine, the worse the ADHD symptoms were in the children. Other studies have also linked phthalates to hormone disruptions, birth defects such as hypospadias, asthma and reproductive problems. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency lists phthalates as water and air pollutants.
Phthalates, chemical plasticizers added to plastics to make them soft and pliable and solvents added to cosmetics, are found in nail polish, shampoo, lotions, food and beverage packaging, toys, medical devices, cosmetics, shower curtains and various other materials.
In August 2008, Congress passed legislation to ban the use of the following phthalates; DEHP, DBP and BBP in toys marketed to children under the age of 12. However phthalates continue to be included in other products including cosmetics and medical devices which are regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
According to the FDA website, at the present time, FDA does not have compelling evidence that phthalates, as used in cosmetics, pose a safety risk. The FDA’s stance is based on the findings of BPA studies primarily funded by manufacturers, three of which were funded by the American Chemistry Council. The FDA has come under scrutiny due to their rejection of research funded by the National Institutes of Health and the fact that their findings contradicted more than 100 studies done by independent researchers. Under pressure to re-evaluate its position, the FDA plans for further testing.
In the meantime, consumers looking to limit their family’s exposure to this controversial chemical can start “by being a smart consumer. Purchase and eat organic fresh foods, buy toys and personal care that specifically indicate being phthalate free. Purchase certified organic personal care (never includes fragrances which can contain phthalates). Look for food and personal care packaged in safer plastics such as PETE (#1 recycle icon). Never use plastic containers or plastic wrap when warming food in the microwave. Increase ventilation in the home. Consumers can also check out product safety levels on sites such as www.healthystuff.org , www.healthychildhealthyworld.org and www.cosmeticdatabase.org ” states Trillium Organics Founder and Formulator Karen Ciesar.

Toys for Tots, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Corey Monteith, Mark Salling, Amber Riley and Bryant Park=Carol-OKE!
Yep 3 cast members of Glee and then also joining in were Nikki Blonsky and Kimberley Locke.
Carol-oke is a contest being run by Marshalls & TJ Maxx. You can still play along! All you have to do is go to Marshalls and T.J. Maxx’s holiday YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/jointhecarolers, watch one of the two unique carols, then upload a video of you singing one of them! For each video $1 will be donated toward Toys for Tots, to purchase gifts for a child in need. If that’s not enough incentive, by uploading a video you are also eligible to win a $5,000 shopping spree. Tis the season to do something charitable!
I was lucky enough to be sent there by TJ Maxx and Marshalls. It was so much fun. Corey Monteith is a HAM! Hamming it up all day on the stage. Amber is about the sweetest. I told her I think she is prettier in person, and she told me, “If i was white you would see me blushing but… I am black.”
and then I told Mark Salling that I fell in love with him that day. His reponse, “just today?” followed by these cheesed out photo.
I would have been in love with Corey, but he was definitely the talker out of all of them. I talk a lot, and that wouldn’t work out. =) There is a couple more pics of me floating around by the other gals that were also there, but I haven’t gotten them. And I have a few more to share of some of the gals I met there.
We had a lot of time to lust after the boys while waiting in the media line.
Make sure you go do your part in Carol-oke! The trio from Glee were all extremely personable and I thank TJ Maxx and Marshalls so much! More on my trip to come later!

Vaska Moving on Up!
December 2, 2009 by Karissa
VASKA, a Berkeley based producer of green, botanically based laundry care products for the commercial, institutional and consumer markets, is pleased to announce that it has introduced its green laundry chemical system to Winter Park Resort in Winter Park, Colorado (www.winterparkresort.com), an Intrawest property (www.intrawest.com), making it the first resort to wash with green chemicals.
VASKA has changed the rules of commercial laundry by introducing a plant-based ‘herbatergent’ that was honored with the EPA’s SDSI (Safer Detergents Stewardship Initiative) designation and other environmentally responsible biodegradable products that clean as effectively as traditional chemicals without damaging linens in the process. Vaska competes load for load on price and quality with traditional chemical approaches. The health of laundry workers and the local environment is a top priority, avoiding exposure to petroleum based detergents and solvents.
Michelle Petersen, Uniform Services Foreman, introduced Vaska products in the laundry facility that washes uniforms for the resort’s 2000 workers as well as the food and beverage linens for Winter Park’s four company owned restaurants. Petersen brought in Vaska to replace the previous chemical provider whose products were not cost efficient, not effective and not green.
According to Petersen, “The harsh chemicals we were using in our machines were ruining the waterproofing in the outdoor garments worn by the mountain staff. We have more than half a million dollars in high tech gear, and Vaska allows us to get these garments clean and protect our investment.”
Julia Fry, VASKA’s CEO, learned to ski at Winter Park with her family. She has wonderful memories of racing down the mountain with her siblings and cousins, and she is excited to be able to make a contribution to a resort that is a refuge for so many local outdoor enthusiasts.
“VASKA is passionate about cleaning without poisoning the planet. We need to do everything we can to preserve the environmental quality of national treasures like the Rocky Mountains.”
Vaska is also the cleaning agent for the uniforms for the San Francisco Giants.
And remember, you heard about Vaska here first!
Buy Vaska at Drugstore.com. OxBleach (no chlorine blech), herbatergent-lavenderV and unscented as well as spot remover!

Big City Mama

Indianapolis may seem like a big city to some of you. And not city intimidates me, except for New York. I am horrible with understanding accents, good with directions but only if i am driving. YIKES!
So yes, I am going to NYC tomorrow! I am going for TJ Maxx’s Red Carpet Event for the Holidays. I really couldn’t be any more excited. Probably driving people on Facebook crazy with updates.
I can drive to Chicago alone, no problem. Atlanta? No problem. L.A. No problem. NYC? EEEEK. subways. what do I do? hah!
I remember the first time I took the “L” in Chicago I was a little nervous but not too bad and it turned out ok. I always seem to travel to places alone which is fine, but New York? I requested a chaperone but they thought I was kidding. I did too at first. Now I am looking up directions and I am wondering how I can make sure I get off at the right stop. I mean heck, i am not paying more then $2 to get to the city since I don’t have to!
But alas, my whole point of this post wasn’t to express my anxiety, but to tell you I will be gone for two days! I do have some posts
scheduled, so no one should go through withdraw or anything. =)
And i will pick a batch of winners as soon as I get back, either Friday or Saturday.
if you want to keep up, I will be tweeting as the journey goes along with the hashtag #TJMaxxRedCarpetEvent I think Twitter still has my tags blocked from searches, so just pull me up! @PrissyGreen
And get this I will not only be hanging with TJ’s coolest crew, but also with Carol-OKE with the cast of Glee! I started to catch up on the show on Hulu last night. (shhh, don’t tell them I haven’t been watching since it first aired!)
Be prepared for lots of pictures, stories and maybe even video! I wish I could bring each of you back something!
OH, and wish me luck at just packing a backpack….and only taking my Hip Bag. (ya know the hip bag Fiona from Burn Notice wears?) God I love it! Not even checking a bag. As hard as that is since most of my items don’t have sample sizes, I am bound and determined to make it work!
Wish my luck! and of course FUN! off to pack!
