M2 Skin Refinish 12% (sensitive) Bundle Review and Giveaway (Closed)

December 10, 2009 by Karissa

SkinBotanica.com

Even if you find that your skin cannot tolerate strong or exfoliating skin care ingredients, M2 Skin Technologies recently released the Skin Refinish 12% formulation that is specifically targeted for those with sensitive and rosacea-prone skin. When used in conjunction with the Exfoliating Cleanser and Skin Recovery Moisturizer, it completely renews the skin without being harsh.

M2 Skin Refinish 12%was created by leading dermatologist, Dr. Mark Taylor, and formulated with a rejuvenating formula of concentrated Mandelic and Malic Acids. Together, these two specialty ingredients work to provide powerful antioxidant protection and refreshment. Great for those with acne-prone, aging, or hyperpigmented skin, it’s the perfect path for the softest, smoothest skin around.

m2-sensitive-skin-collection-bundle

The products contain both Mandelic and Malic Acids that offer beneficial anti-inflammatory properties and skin-protective qualities that will make a noticeable impact on your complexion. Mandelic Acid is naturally antibacterial, making it a must-have for acne-prone skin. Malic Acid is a natural humectant and antioxidant, and keeps the skin protected throughout the day. The three products work together to comfortably promote an even skin tone, reduce breakouts, fade acne scarring, and smooth fine lines and wrinkles by resurfacing the skin – without causing further irritation and stress.

I was too nervous to try this.  I do have acne and I could benefit from any help with hyperpigmentation, but with the holidays coming up, I was just too scared to jinx myself!  you can see my before and after acne pictures here and understand why.

Sooo, I let a friend with rosacea have the bundle.  I didn’t get words for the review at first, but more like excited squeaks.  She was so thrilled that the M2 line was so gentle she couldn’t form words!  I think she traded her voice for Alvin, from Alvin and Chipmunks when she said, “my skin has never looked better, flawless, redness from my rosacea faded in less then 10 days!”

My friend is 40 and of course is battling the signs of aging.  She is more on the fair skinned side of things and has never had any luck using anti-aging treatments.  She complains they either broke her out with acne or more rosacea and this is the first treatment she plans on purchasing after giving it a trial run!

I call that a smashing success!

And SkinCareRx.com would like to give one of you an opportunity to try the M2 Refinishing Bundle!  A $91 value!

This includes:

  • M2 Exfoliating Cleanser
  • M2 Skin Refinish 12%
  • M2 Skin Recovery Moisturizer

And just because I didn’t try it with my acne prone skin, doesn’t mean you should not give it a shot! My friend has acne prone, sensitive skin like me, but also with rosacea and she is still calling me squeaking about how awesome her skin looks!

Childrens Orchard, Win a $100 Gift Card

December 10, 2009 by Karissa

This season, Children’s Orchard resale stores will give away a $100.00 gift card to one lucky mom. As you can imagine, $100 goes a long way in resale — equivalent to $1,000 at a traditional department store. To be eligible for the giveaway, moms should go to the Children’s Orchard website and join the Children’s Orchard M.O.M.S. Club before December 21, 2009. All new M.O.M.S Club members automatically receive a $5.00 Cache Card via email and will receive regular notifications of special promotions at Children’s Orchard.

RESALE SHOPPING TIPS FROM CHILDREN’S ORCHARD

  • When shopping at thrift or consignment stores, make sure you inspect clothing for holes and stains. Upscale resale stores are very selective about the products they take in and will typically use a special light to check clothing for imperfections. Ask about the store’s inspection process to be certain.

  • Bring a current department store catalog with you to the resale or thrift store to make sure you buy only the latest fashions. Most upscale resale stores receive new inventory daily so you should be able to find current styles in some of the leading brands, like Ralph Lauren, GAP and Calvin Klein.
  • To get the best deals, look for special events and offers. In addition to the already deeply discounted prices, resale stores often have generous promotions during the holiday season. Be sure to check your local resale store for loyalty programs to receive member-only offers.
  • When looking to buy children’s toys and accessories such as strollers and high chairs, talk to the store owner about how they stay up-to-date on recalls. Since most items at resale stores do not come with their original packaging, it is up to the consumer to make sure they are not purchasing faulty equipment.
  • Don’t pass up the opportunity for some extra cash this Holiday season by selling your kids’ gently-used clothing, toys, furniture, and accessories. Call ahead for information on what your local resale store is buying.  Some stores will set up a one-on-one appointment with the buyer and others allow you to walk in at your convenience to sell your outgrown kid’s stuff.

Contest is not on Prissy Green, please go to Children’s Orchard website and join the Children’s Orchard M.O.M.S. Club before December 21, 2009!

Belle Floria NVEY ECO & Woodsprite Review and Giveaway (Closed)

December 9, 2009 by Karissa

You might remember a few weeks ago I did a post on Bella Floria and NVEY’s new eye shadow duos?  Well I am back to give you my thoughts on the eyeshadows and a review on Woodsprite!

Bella Floria is an online retailer dispelling the myths of beauty.  Showing ladies that is possible to be natural and glamorous in the same day!

I was able to try the NVEY ECO Organic Eyeshadow Duo in Earthly DesiresEARDES-2T

The application is a flawless, silky, smooth shadow.  I actually used mine wet so the color would last the longest and it proved to be a good choice!  I also used the bronze brown as my eyeliner (my favorite things to multi-task with)  the color is just stunning.  The color that looks more pink in the photos is actually more of a burnt orange mauve.  Really a gorgeous color.

Bella Floria also sent me some items from WoodsSprite Organics to try out.  I am in heaven!  The scent is Grapefruit Mint and I received the Sea Salt Glow Body Scrub, Get Whipped Body Butter and also a lip balm in Sweet Orange.  I had just ran out of the lip balm I keep in the living room (in a basket) so this was the perfect chance to try Woodsprites out.  It is nice and soft, not hard wax, and leaves a gorgeous sheen on my lips.  definitely something I would purchase in the future!

Woodsprite Sea Salt Glow

The Sea Salt Glow is a must have for dry and ashy winter skin.  It is jam packed full of nutrient oils, (nut free) so watch out when you get out of the shower or tub!  I barely needed any moisturizer after using this just a touch for the extra dry elbows and feet! Incredible for use before bedtime. This nut-free formula features our fine sea salt blend in nutritive Organic Grapeseed, Organic Sunflower and Organic Olive Oils for skin with a satiny smooth finish and vibrant, healthy glow!

Woodsprite Get Whipped!

A admit, I can be picky about Shea Butters.  Some of them seem to just sit on top of the skin and never actually penetrate or do any good curing my dry skin.  The Woodsprite Get Whipped! is made with pure Certified Organic Shea Butter, which has been whipped and whipped to a lighter, friendlier, more spreadable texture. And to make it extra-delectable, it has been fortified  with vitamin-rich oils like avocado, kukui and organic macadamia plus amazing essential oils to create the Grapefruit Mint blend.

The Get Whipped! doesn’t simply sit on top of my skin and grease up my clothing.  It actually penetrates and starts the healing process.  Probably the first shea butter treatment I can really stand behind and say that i noticed a difference. And don’t whipped fool ya, it is still thick and hearty!

side note, I left this sitting out with the lid off, and came back into the room and both dogs were licking it to pieces.  I am glad noticed before they started chowing down!  But at least we know it is natural!

Woodsprite Grapefruit Mint Soap

And Organic Soap!  I am such a sucker for bar soap.  One day I promise I will take a picture of all that I have opened.  (not craig’s, just mine)  Woodsprite’s Grapefruit Mint Organic Soap is luxurious.  Really just so much creamy lather you wonder if it is truly natural.  The Grapefruit scent is marvelous for mornings and can be used on normal or combination skin.  I actually took this baby to NYC with me and was my sole friend for cleaning not only my body but face too!  now that I have found that soap bars actually treat my face, I don’t have to worry nearly as much about the 3oz rule on flights!

Bella Floria wants to give you a chance give Woodsprite holiday season!  They are offering a discount of 20% off Woodsprite products with code “prissygreen” until the end of the month 12/31.

PLUS I have another NVEY ECO Eyeshadow duo up for grabs!  Valued at 44!Your choice of color of course!

To enter, please visit Bella Floria and tell me something you would like to receive as a present this Holiday Season!

The Gaiam Yoga Club Review

December 9, 2009 by Karissa

Gaiam Subscription Clubs
Chances are you have heard of Gaiam before?  Either their vast knowledge base website or their products?  Well for the last few days i have been utilizing their Yoga Club.

The Gaiam Yoga Club is a revolutionary way to do yoga right at home on your laptop. Developed by world-renowned instructors Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman, this online yoga program features daily videos and customizable content that show you how to personalize your yoga practice for greater flexibility, improved core strength, increased energy, enhanced focus and overall well-being. Additionally the site features Q&A with Rodney and Colleen, as well as supporting content and member community features.

Since it’s customizable, it’s a fit for people at any level, from the beginner who doesn’t want to feel embarrassed at the local studio to the regular practitioner who wants to perfect their poses – something there’s really not time for at standard studio classes. Also its great for busy professionals or parents who only have a cherished few minutes to work out but want to break a good sweat and find some inner peace.

image003The The Gaiam Yoga Club walks us through the basics like standing poses to more of the indepth yoga poses with still keeping a balance on the beginner.

  • Self-paced 12-week program appropriate for all skill levels
  • Nine hour-long online videos that guide you step by step through 75 poses
  • 63 downloadable yoga and meditation audiocasts for yoga club members
  • Connect with Rodney and Colleen through exclusive community chats and inspiring blogs
  • Talk with members of our conscious yoga community through message boards and your own personal blog

Ah, I have had so many desk jobs that this would have been perfect for.  Shut my office door and get a chance to stretch and breathe!  Since I still consider myself a beginner at yoga, I can attest it is workable for a novice.  I think for anyone that is past the beginners stage just taking each pose deeper would be enough to keep them satisfied.  I am not sure I would replace my DVD’s or even classed (if i took them) with the Gaiam Yoga Club, but I do highly suggest it for those of you on the run all the time.  If you take your laptop on business trips, family vacations etc.  It does ask for you to have a couple pieces of equipment but those are all easily substituted.  A Yoga Mat, Blankets, Blocks etc.

You can try it for free for 5 daysor you can start a $5 a week membership!  And don’t forget, buy it as an online gift if you get stuck thinking up something for someone!

Tom’s Of Maine, New Silly Strawberry Toothpaste! Giveaway (Closed)

December 9, 2009 by Karissa

Tom’s of Maine Silly Strawberry icontoothpaste features naturally-sourced sodium monofluorophosphate as its active ingredient to provide cavity protection, and calcium to clean. Real strawberry flavor oils—not artificial sweeteners, dyes, or sparkles—are the basis for its kid-friendly appeal.  It is only $2.95 at Drugstore.com!

Silly Strawberry

You can enjoy the benefits of Tom’s Children’s Natural Toothpaste and feel confident knowing that it is the only natural option to carry the ADA Seal of Acceptance!

I don’t use kids toothpaste, but I have used Tom’s Toothpaste for the last several years.  I have even gotten Craig hooked and that was not an easy task!  I like Tom’s because it isn’t so overpowering and has more of a classic toothpaste feel then all the new varieties that seem to keep popping up.   We have been using Wicked Fresh lately, a Cool Peppermint that doesn’t burn.  We both commented on how much we liked it over the last (crest tube) we used.  But I will warn you, I don’t think Wicked Fresh has made it to the store shelved yet so for now, get your kids the Silly Strawberry icon!   Or any other assortment of Tom’s goods.

I have TEN full sized tubes of Tom’s of Maine NEW Silly Strawberry Toothpaste! And the contest is only 3 days long so if you win hopefully we can have them to you in time to make the kiddies stockings!  Winners will receive the anti-cavity Silly Strawberry!

To enter, tell me your favorite Tom’s of Maine item, or tell me how you get your kids to brush their teeth for recommended 2-3 minutes?

Mountain Rose Herbs Offers Cash Incentives for Carpooling & Biking to Work

December 9, 2009 by Karissa

Mountain Rose Herbs, the premier provider of competitively priced, sustainably-harvested organic herbal products, is taking their eco-efforts to new heights by introducing the nation’s most progressive carpooling and bicycling to work program that features cash incentives.Carpool

“We pay our employees in cash for carpooling and bicycling to work. To our knowledge, no other company is offering a cash incentive that reaches the same caliber as ours in the United States,” says Shawn Donnille, Mountain Rose Herbs’ Operations Manager & Director of Quality Control.

A huge concern to environmentalists, excess automobile usage is a primary contributor to global warming. In fact, according to the Environmental Defense Fund, U.S. autos emit more than 333 million tons of carbon dioxide each year, more than one-fifth of the nation’s total carbon dioxide emissions. Carpooling and bicycling programs–like the one introduced by Mountain Rose Herbs–can make a big difference in lessening our environmental footprint.

The program pays staff members who carpool to work 12-cents per mile for each passenger, and for those who bicycle to work, 20-cents per mile. In addition to the cash reward for each mile, Mountain Rose Herbs also offers a yearly $500 cash bonus to the staff member who has logged the most miles.

The carpool and bicycling to work incentive is just one program in a long line of forward-thinking sustainability programs from Mountain Rose Herbs. As a “Zero Waste” company, Mountain Rose Herbs goes to great lengths to ensure that materials which might be regarded as waste are recycled, re-used, composted, reclaimed, or brought back into the production cycle. When Mountain Rose Herbs adopted a “Zero Waste” policy, they went from producing about 3,300 gallons of waste per month (a normal amount for a processor) to producing between 80 to 100 gallons per month–the same as a typical four-person household. All invoices, flyers, brochures, and other paper materials are printed on 100-percent post consumer materials and all facilities are powered by renewable energy.

Because of Mountain Rose Herb’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, they have received numerous awards, including Co-op America’s People’s Choice Award for Green Business of the Year, Provender Alliance’s “The Evolution in Motion Award” and the “Bold Steps Towards Sustainability Award.”
Since 1987, Mountain Rose Herbs, based in Eugene, Oregon, has been known for its uncompromising commitment to organic agriculture, sustainable business practices, and steadfast focus on the pure aesthetics and freshness of botanical products. Their wide range of product offerings includes bulk herbs and spices, aromatherapy and essential oils, tea and tea supplies, and natural health and body care. Every aspect of product creation is carried out in accordance to strict quality control and organic handling procedures by employees who care. From their fragrant and beyond-fresh organic herbs and spices, to soothing essential oils and delicious herbal teas, the quality and integrity of Mountain Rose Herbs is unparalleled–with smiles guaranteed.

Mountain Rose Herbs has been my go to shop for clays for making masks since 1992. No internet at the time, so placed my orders via telephone. Times have certainly changed!
Great spot to order teas and tea supplies for the hard to buy for tea drinking this holiday season!
