Sorry Cuisinart, but I Don’t Like It.
Ya’ll have to know by now that I don’t normally post bad reviews. Generally I don’t have very many bad product experiences because I only choose to review things that I am pretty confident I can use. Tote Buddy? Yes. Hoover Vacuum? yes. Organic Make Up? yes.
Counter top water filter? Yes. but sadly… no. After two attempts to get a machine that worked properly I just have to admit that I wanted to so badly to like it, but I don’t.
I was using Cuisinart 2 Gallon Counter Top Water Filtration Machine. It has a cold, room temperature and a hot setting. My first complaint, is that it was a really big PIA to set up twice and have the machine not work to my standards twice. I really have no idea if it was just a coindence that I recieved two that didn’t work right? But because it is a filter, you have to run tons of water to through it to get the carbon taste out?
I never did get the carbon taste out. I could still smell it. My next complaint? The Hot water never got more then a little warm. Not warm enough for tea, cooking Ramen Noodles, nothing. Basically for me, that aspect was just a waste.
The Machine also runs a lot. A lot. And it is pretty loud. We have an open kitchen, living room space and it was pretty dreadful. And now I just feel like I am being picky, but that is just how it is.
So now I have cold carbon tasting water. fail!
I will say in the defense of Cuisinart, that several other bloggers have tried the machine and really liked it. Cat at 3Kids and Us liked hers. and it even gets a 4 of 5 stars on Amazon
I could have fluffed it, reviewed and driven traffic here by giving one away, but I hope this post proves my honesty and integrity. Save your $147.00 and use it to purchase an Aquasana counter top kitchen faucet water filter. We have one, I love it to pieces. Granted it also doesn’t get the water hot enough to make tea, but it does clean our water, and then all I have to do is refrigerate it!

Hmmm that is pretty expensive. And, if it does not do what it’s not supposed to do then it’s not worth it. I will just stick with my Pur pitcher for now – thanks!

I think Cusinart has amazing products in general, so to know ahead of time that perhaps this one isn’t up to par is very helpful. Thank You…Love your blog!

All reviews can’t be positive…there are bound to be things that you get to review that just don’t work for you. And I am glad that you are free to say that.
I appreciate your honesty! If Cuisinart is a stand-up company, they will respect your opinion and make improvements to their product – also appreciating your honest feedback.
I was just wondering about getting one of these, but I’m not one to just run out and spend $150 on just anything. Thanks for the honest review! Definitely will take it into consideration!

Thanks for the honest review. Everyone understands that sometimes you get a lemon of a product, but two??? Makes one wonder, especially since Cat had a good experience. I’d like to add that a negative review doesn’t necessarily mean I wouldn’t give the product a try if it is something that I really think would work for our family. If I see several..that’s another story. Having said that the one thing I would like to know, especially in the case of a negative review is what the warranty and return policy are.

Oh my , I sam so glad you post this review! I was thinking of geting one for the house but after reading you could never did get the carbon taste out I will be not purshasing this prodcut, thank-you!
It is true that you would rather read a real negative review than a fake good review. We all have different views and what might be good for someone else might not be good for you.

Also Cuisinart or other companies need to hear the good and bad of a product incase they need to better a product.
Word of mouth can go along way.
I saw that in the Crate and Barrel catalog, and REALLY REALLY wanted to buy it, since I hate cold water (which is what we currently have from the fridge filter) and I only drink hot water or room temperature water (or I’ll microwave cold water to make it room temp). It’s too much work to get water delivered, so we thought this would be perfect. AND a plus was that it wouldn’t look too bad sitting on the countertop. Good things for reviews though. Amazon reviewers didn’t like it either, so I’m glad we didn’t end up forking over the cash for this!

You can’t love every product you get. It’s just law of averages. Maybe Cuisinart should stick to cooking products? I love all of my cooking products from them.

Wow, you got TWO that failed? I think that goes beyond coincidence and now I’m wondering if I was lucky to receive one that actually worked. The water in ours actually comes out hotter than the Keurig coffee machine does.
