Oprah Quitting?

wow. Oprah has been on television for nearly my entire life. She has been an inspiration to so many, I am floored that she is done. floored!
September 9, 2011 will air her last show, and mark the 25th year of the afternoon award winning show.
I do not watch that often, but I have always loved her for her strength and determination and always asking the questions no one else will.
Now, I am still upset with her for allowing Dr. Phil to get his own show but…. I think she has done enough to make up for it!
This basically informs us all that she is moving over to the Oprah Winfrey Network ( OWN), the cable channel/network. Do you like this choice? Do you think she will make many changes to her format? Or do you think this is basically Harpro Oprah moving to a new network?

LILLY LOVES GREEN
As part of its yearlong campaign focused on raising environmental awareness – “Lilly Loves Green” – Lilly Pulitzer has partnered with the Tomberlin Automotive Group to offer a “GREEN” printed electric Lilly Pulitzer car this holiday season.
Perfect for zipping around town running errands without wasting gas, zipping across the golf course or taking kids to the bus stop in the morning, this “street legal” electric vehicle is a great way to contribute to cleaner air and a greener earth! Plus, it can travel up to 25 mph and can go over 30 miles when running on a fully charged battery.
The Tomberlin printed Electric Lilly Car will feature a custom Lilly Pulitzer printed interior and will be available in pink or white exterior.
It’s the perfect accessory in any resort community from Boca Grande, Ocean Reef to Fishers Island. The electric car is priced between $12,000 and $15,000 (depending on optional add-ons), making it recession chic as well! The first 100 customers who purchase the electric car will receive $2,500 off the final agreed selling price.
Disclamer: this is simply a press release from a rep.
I do say, I had no idea who Lilly Pulitzer was until I got this release. pretty cool little shabby chic store. you might want to check it out. Outside of my price range, but who says we cant look?

Jessicurl Review By Julie of MoonCat Farms Plus Giveaway
I created the Jessicurl line after years of using products that didn’t work for my curly hair. From our curl-enhancing styling products to our moisturizing conditioners, each product contains only ingredients that offer a specific benefit to your curly hair — there is no filler. By improving the health of your hair rather than masking the damage, the end result is a much more vibrant head of curls. Thanks for stopping by, and have a curly day! — Jessica McGuinty-Founder
Remember when i asked for a reader to volunteer to do a “curly hair” product review? Well, I found my girl and guy for the review. Meet Julie. She not only has a curly mane, but her husband does too! Julie also runs a blog called MoonCatFarms, so go browse around and take the time to comment. We bloggers live for comments!
I have been steering our household towards natural and environmentally friendly living. We have been coming across several issues of concern when shopping for personal care products:
-
Animal testing – Why would you test something on a creature that is MADE FOR HUMAN USE and even has a warning to keep away from pets.
-
Harsh Chemicals & Fillers – We don’t want extra gunk in or on our bodies if we can help it
-
Company Policies & Practices – Companies that have questionable dealings won’t get my business, and
-
Price – I want big bang for my buck.
In my initial research when I was told about Jessicurl, it appeared that they might be a fit according to my “issues” above, but it all comes down to how would the product work for us?
We received the trial size sets packaged in nice clear, reusable zippered bags. The Light formula was sent for me as my hair is finer and gets weighed down easier than Hubby’s. He was sent the Rich formula for his thicker, drier textured hair. We both may have naturally curly hair, but it is very different. The lovely people at Jessicurl also sent along Microfiber Scrunching Towels for each of us.
One thing I wasn’t very keen on was the fact that they used styrofoam packing peanuts in the shipping box. I have a personal hate for them as they aren’t very earth friendly and make a major mess.
I couldn’t wait to try this new-to-me line. I eagerly read the information that accompanied my set and took off to the shower. The smell of the Gentle Lather Shampoo is fabulous, Citrus Lavender. Because it’s not filled with lots of chemicals and bogus ingredients, it doesn’t lather as much as I was used to with most of the other shampoos I’ve used. I did do the “lather, rinse, repeat” steps and my hair felt good and smelled very clean.
I followed up with the Aloeba Daily Conditioner. It’s made with natural oils of aloe, coconut, jojoba, and avocado along with various herbs and spices. Almost yummy! I read on the website that some people use it as a leave-in conditioner, but my hair leans towards oiliness so I rinse it out.
I skipped towel drying my hair and sprayed the Gelebration Spray all over it before adding the Confident Coils Styling Solution. After scrunching the products throughout my hair, I then blotted it with the Microfiber towel to get the excess water out. After letting it air dry and KEEPING MY HANDS OFF IT (a huge tip that is repeated several times in the instructions and on the website), I was very happy with the soft, controlled curls I was seeing. Plus, it smelled great (can you tell that scent is a biggie with me?)
I followed many of the hints and directions from the Jessicurl Site and the accompanying paperwork. A lot of great advice and information is available for curlyheads. So far, Jessicurl covers all of my concerns with no animal testing, many natural ingredients, company policies, and pricing. Most of all, it works for my hair.
Now, let’s turn the keyboard over to the peanut gallery/Hubby and get his perspective on Jessicurl.
I was a little more skeptical than my wife when asked to try these hair products. She tends to choose the things we use around here, usually based on eco-friendly issues so I’m never sure what we’re going to have. I thought at first she was just tickled with the cute names of the products we were to try. Most of the time I don’t notice a difference between one shampoo and the next. If it’s in the shower, I’ll use it.
I was a little put out when I first tried the Hair Cleansing Cream since it didn’t lather up very much. I didn’t think my hair was going to get very clean so I sudsed it up twice. (I read the literature they sent afterward and found out that this is normal due to less chemicals added.)
I followed the shampoo with Too Shea! Extra Moisturizing Conditioner and used the little PINK (what no blue for us curl-endowed men?) towel to soak up the extra water. The Weekly Deep Conditioning Treatment was “accidentally” used next. I put a small amount in my hair and was all set. I found out later – when I read the directions – that I was supposed to be using the Rockin’ Ringlets Styling Potion next. I also read that I was to rinse out the conditioner, but it really made a difference in how moisturized my hair was and actually kept my hair under control for the day. My baseball cap didn’t even mess it up. The Rockin’ Ringlets was used later on and it works well too, I just don’t use a lot of styling products on a daily basis.
After using this set for a couple of weeks, I’ve really noticed a big difference in my hair. It’s not as dry and coarse-feeling as before. It doesn’t seem to frizz up as readily either. The major benefit for me is that the wife is very happy with how it looks and feels. She can’t keep her hands out of it. I think it’s a big thumbs up from both of the curlyheads at MoonCat Farms.
End Julie and Husband of MoonCatFarms.
I am so thrilled they had good results and write such a great review for us! I have my fingers crossed that packaged peanuts are the dis-solvable kind! Thank you so much Julie and Mr. MoonCat Farms! I really appreciated your details and reviews! Bravo!

This is the Life of a Review Blogger

This is my office. I don’t work in it very often cause it scares the sh*t out of me. This is from the door to the directly to the left. (the door is sorta in the corner)
Wait, that was just what would fit in that frame. I have more.
This from the doorway straight in.
And this one is a picture of what is underneath the card table
I know it looks like just a bunch of boxes, but 90% of them have stuff inside. This whole bloggy world started off as just review items on the card table. now it has taken OVER. Most of this is stuff to be reviewed, or things that have been reviewed. Broken up sets etc etc.
And I am way too embarrassed to take a picture of my bathroom vanity OR the walk in closet that is in the bathroom. (maybe next week)
There is actually a treadmill and a rebounder and a hope chest in that room too. but you can’t get to them. and to be honest, I cleaned this room up a little before I took the pictures. I mean just a teeny bit. how scary is it? yikes.
What might be even more scary? I am actually pretty organized. Just no one else can see it, or find anything. =)

Misikko Hana Professional Flat Iron Review and Giveaway
This has to be the best electric device that I use. Hands down. Gives my hair shine like you just can’t believe and literally takes me less then 3 minutes to do. And I have a lot of hair. Granted, most of it is already pretty straight, but I have some nappy waves and curls going on underneath it all!
I have another Flat Iron, that is only Ceramic COATED plates. and believe me when I tell you this is a HUGE difference between ceramic coated and actual ceramic plates, which is what that Hana Professional Flat Iron 1.5 has.
Hana Professional Features:
- Advanced Tourmaline Ceramic Plates for Accelerated Ion Generation and Maximum Frizz-Free, Conditioning Shine
- Ceramic is naturally hygienic, protects color & retards fading
- Floating 1.5” Plates Auto-Adjust To Glide Over Any Hair Texture
- Wider plates are perfect for longer, thicker or hard to style hair types
- Curved Plate Edges For Versatile Styling – Curl, Flip or Straighten!
- Adjustable Temperature Dial – 5 Settings from 140-450° F for All Hair Types
- Flash Heats in Seconds with Instant Compensation for Heat Loss
- Ergonomic Handle Design with No-Slip Grip
- Smooth Grooves Keep Hair Strands Separate and Snag-Free
- Tangle-Free Salon Quality Cord Swivels 360°; Convenient Hanging Loop
- Energy Efficient at 38 Watts
- Independent On/Off Switch
- Includes Luxe Heat Proof Storage Pouch, Heat Proof Silicone Mat, & Special Edition Tin Case
- Made in Korea
- Two Year Warranty
Okay some of the features that I am just jawdropped and stunned with are the curved plates. My other flat iron (which was made by a big company and not cheap) supposedly have these too… But they don’t work. On the Hana Professional 1.5 they do work! Curl, wave, flip or straighten!
and the temperature settings! I like having a choice of just how hot I need to get my hair to manipulate it!
I am also enamored with the Floating Adjustable Plates. I have a lot of hair, but for the most part it is fine. Which means, it is a lot easier on my to straighten a lot at a time versus little section. If i do little sections not only will I get flyaways but my goodness it would take forever! Which is why I stopped bothering with the other one!
And I just want to mention again, this is not ceramic coated. No ladies (and gentlemen?) this Flat Iron is full on ceramic! Helps prevent color fading. SWEET!
I have never been one to fix my hair. I love makeup and skincare, but for some reason I grew up hating to fix my hair. I also had have a dislike of what I look like with my hair up. So I grew up with Hair Straighteners and curling irons and lots of hair spray. I woke up super early every day so i could fix my hair. Now I realize it actually looks better less fixed! (I didn’t get the nickname Prissy Krissy for nothing!)
Each Hana Professional comes with a free gift. A heat protection pad! I can’t tell you how many bathroom counters I have burned brown marks into in m lifetime. Enough that I started making myself unplug the irons, instead of soley relying on turning them off. WHICH is good for energy reduction and my counters! The Hana also comes in a really nice tin with an extremely nice pouch, so safe keeping and safe traveling!
I personally wasn’t sure how to get the sexy waves going on in my hair. So I poked around on Youtube for a tutorial. Well I stumbled across a Misikko video!
I figured since I needed it maybe one of you might too!? Enjoy!
Misikko wasn’t only kind to me but they want to be kind to one reader too! They are offering up one Hana Professional Flat Iron 1.5 to a lucky winner!
To enter, visit Misikko and tell me another product there that you would really like to own.

Late July Organic Snacks Review & Giveaway
Late July Organic Snacks is a family owned and operated company that cares deeply about family and the integrity of our products. All of their products certified USDA organic and proudly wear the organic seal. And on any given day you can find three generations at work including six-year-old Stephen and two-year-old Benjamin.
Late July doesn’t only make Organic Snacks, but makes them with no high fructose corn syrup in it, no hydrogenated oils, no trans fats and containing whole grains and antioxidants! Can you even believe it?
And they don’t taste like cardboard! They are actually quite tasty! As most of you know I am not a chocolate fan, so I wasn’t sure I would like either flavor, the Milk Chocolate or the White Chocolate, but I ended up eating nearly the whole box of Milk Chocolate Mini Sandwich Cookies!
Late July also makes two other varieties of a sandwich cookie. Both have chocolate cookies, but the filling is what separates them! One type filled with vanilla bean and green tea filling and the other with dark chocolate. Their names are aptly, Vanilla Bean and Dark Chocolate.
Late July also carries organic Peanut Butter Crackers. One of my favorites! They also have Rich Saltines and Classic Saltines. I am sure I missed something over there, so go take a peek and tell me what you want to try!
Late July Organic Snacks are sold online at at Late July and find them at Amazon.
