Imitation the Sincerest Form of Flattery….? whatever.

Imitation is the sincerest from of flattery?  Stephanie-Tanner-full-house-1848010-506-467

It doesn’t feel that way.  It feels more like my hard work gets picked over and robbed.    Especially when I see it done by blogs whom I have helped out by walking them through the steps of how to get in touch with PR, how to write pitch letters etc.

In the voice of Stephanie Tanner, “HOW RUDE.”

I don’t like to bring negatives posts here and maybe it is just hitting me more in the gut today because i feel under pressure with a short week, but dang people.  Get an original idea?    I am sure they won’t even see this cause all they come here for is to look at my giveaways, but it makes me feel an itty bit better.

    Oops, just reread your last sentence & realized you were referring to the copycats. Sorry! I stand by all the things I said, though.

    I originally found your site while looking for eco-friendly makeup and household products! I can’t tell you how useful I have found your reviews. Your blog introduced me to the whole concept of blog giveaways – a concept which I find extremely interesting from a marketing standpoint. I brought it up to my friends who run small businesses the other day. I have entered your giveaways, but haven’t won any & I still love reading your blog! It has really opened my eyes to small ways to be more eco-friendly. I’ve also fallen in love with a couple businesses you have featured & I think the idea of supporting small businesses is so important in a recession.

    Please don’t think your readers are only interested in your giveaways. You offer so much more! I’ve pointed several friends to your blog for reviews & I know a couple of them are hooked.

    Everyone who commented here says such nice things about you and your blog, you have to know people respect you and your opinions.

    OY! That has to be the most frustrating thing ever. I am so sorry some people are just too lazy to get their own creative juices flowing. You know what is worse? That people these days (internet age) think nothing of it. I mean when I was growing up, plagiarism was a huge thing and it didn’t go unpunished. Total bummer!

    How infuriating. I’m sorry that it’s going on. One good thing is that you’re creative and original so you’ll always have bigger and better ideas. Even if they continue to copy you, they’re version can’t beat yours.

    I so agree with Joanna – nobody can compare! You have become my skincare/makeup “Yoda” – except a whole lot purty-er! My entire skincare arsenal these days has to pass the “What would Karissa say?” test. :) Now c’mon, darling, you cannot blame mediocrities for trying to imitate you, they’ve got to eat too. And you have to admit, they have good taste ’cause they imitate the best! ;) But mediocrities they remain! So don’t waste the pretty and have yourself a great Thanksgiving!

    That stinks! People can be so rude. Not that I’m justifying what they have done, but I can see why they would want to copy you. You have a great blog!

    Even when you are upset (bummed) you manage to put a little humor twist to your point. The Stephanie Tanner quote is perfect and made me smile because I remember when she used to say that. Don’t let anyone else distract you and take away your positive energy from a single second of your day. They don’t deserve your time and energy to be wasted on thinking about them. Don’t look back on how you helped them, or how they are copying you, just focus on what you need to do and try (as you did) to find some humor and something positive about all this. I have been where you are, not with my blog, but in a work related situation, and after a week or so you will forget all about them. Just enjoy the holidays and the work you do on your blog and remove them from your thoughts. BTW – no one can even come close to copy you, you are one of a kind!! (the best kind) {smile}

    You’re picture of Stephanie is perfect for this post, but it isn’t whatever. It is something you’re feeling. People should appreciate what you’ve done and the hard work you’ve put into your site and personally given to others who have blogs. They need to give you credit, and if they need to use an idea of yours, if they came here to get it, then they need to ask your permission first and say thank you.
    Ideas are funny things, alot of people actually get the same ones, some apply them the same and some differently.
    I don’t have a blog, but I know sometimes I see new products on the market and I say to myself, if I’d only had the money I could have had that product on the market because I had that idea a couple of years ago.
    So, given the benefit of the doubt, some people may not be stealing your ideas, but indeed I am sure others are and are not getting your permission or giving you any credit.
    Hang in there. I like your site and I’m sure others do too.
