Between insomnia, and neck issues, I sometimes can go days with a couple hours sleep.  Then I crash.  Hard!  So I have to have a good pillow to support me, for a long extended sleep.  I am not the only one that stores the days tension in my neck and shoulders, most of us do.   Sleeping on a pillow that doesn’t relieve stress exposes us to health issues as we age. A supportive pillow can relax muscles, buffer pressure points and help you get the rest we all need.

The pillow also needs to be temperature regulating. With NaturaWorld Wool pillows, I have found that I am no longer flipping the pillow around while I am trying to fall asleep, it always stays cool, even when I am warm and the room is warm.  Remarkable.

I have always been the type to just go buy whatever pricey pillow a discount store has marked down cheap.  well, that really isn’t the smartest thing. If they have them marked down, it is probably for a reason right?

Then my step-mom started getting them for us for Christmas.  She is a diva-frugalista.  She would find the coupons, the ads, rebates, and would buy us really nice pillows for a great price.  Then LS Ayres left us.  Now I have NaturaWorld!

Natura....Sleep Well For Life

Natura....Sleep Well For Life

Green Natural and Organic!

I had been eyeballing NaturaWorld ever since I saw them on a blog last year.  I just knew their products would be a joy for me, and being natural and with a green heart just enforced that more and more.  When they agreed to let me do a review for them, I was beyond thrilled.  So imagine my surprise when not 1, not 2 but 4 pillows show up to my door for me to test.  As my contact put it, “pillows are in intimate choice, you need options.”

We received an Ultimate, an Aloe Vera Dream Mate, an Organic Cloud Pillow Plus, and Dream Pillow.  Now, I will be honest. It was harder then I expected to keep them all straight!   They are all different, but yet, all pillows! I even thought I was using the Cloud Pillow for the last few weeks, but after looking closer, I am in love, lust and heaven with my Ultimate.  Although the Cloud is my second pillow now.

Ultimate1

The Ultimate:
Luxuriously soft, plush terry cotton cover, lined with a plush layer of Natura Wool™. The zip-off cover is completely removable for easy care.  (this cover is awesome!  like velvet almost)

Natura Wool™ Lining:

The Natura Wool lining creates an insulating layer that helps to regulate temperature next to the skin throughout the night, allowing you achieve longer periods of deep sleep. Natura Wool also wicks away excess moisture, creating a fresh, dry sleep environment that repels common allergens and bacteria that thrive in moist environments.

Talalay latex core:

Made with a 100% latex core, the Ultimate Pillow core provides resilient support that won’t clump or pack down. It instantly adjusts to contours of the head and neck, keeping the spine correctly aligned to provide tension-free comfort throughout the night. Naturally breathable and hypoallergenic, the Talalay latex core is also anti-microbial, inhibiting the presence of allergens such as mold, mildew and dust mites. Also available in a contour version.

I am a belly to side sleeper.  I need support, but I also need comfort in the fact that I sleep in the worst position.  my favorite thing, next to the cool temperature regulation, is that is is almost springy.  No, not almost, it is!  It conforms, but does so in a gentle way.  It doesn’t flatten out.

And when we traveled this past weekend, this baby came with me.  I slept most of the way there (I am a total car sleeper!)  I used my Ultimate, and instead of feeling the car buzzing along the highway, my head bounced a rocked a little bit. Not that it was uncomfortable, it was more like shock absorption.  If you travel, you need one of these, period!

Our AC didn’t work very well in our hotel room.  So while trying to sleep I was hot.  We stayed with another couple, so stripping down wasn’t an option.  The pillow kept my head nice and cool.  I really had no idea how awesome a pillow could be. Saturday night, I went out with some friends, and Craig stayed with other friends at the hotel.  When I got back, everyone was asleep, and Craig was using my pillow.  I was crushed.  It was hot, and I knew it was cool.  I finally asked him to scooch over so we could both use it!  I laid my head on my half, and I was out like a light.

I am telling yall, these pillows are the Mac Daddies of pillows.

Aloe Dream Mate

Craig’s choice pillow is the Aloe Vera Dream Mate.  I really thought this was going to be my pillow, and it was the first one I tried, but it didn’t have enough support or filling for me.  Completely a personal choice.  The Dream Mate pillows are actually more universal then the Ultimate.  Go figure, I am even unique with pillows!  =)

Aloe Enriched Cover:

Moisturizing, silky aloe infused cotton blend cover, lined with temperature regulating Natura smart Wool.
Natura Smart Wool™ Lining:

The Natura Wool lining creates an insulating layer that helps to regulate temperature next to the skin throughout the night, allowing you achieve longer periods of deep sleep. Natura Wool also wicks away excess moisture, creating a fresh, dry sleep environment that repels common allergens and bacteria that thrive in moist environments.

Granulated Talalay latex core:

The Aloe Dream Mate pillow’s granulated core mimics the feel of feathers and down but provides springy support that won’t pack down. The resilient latex granules move wherever you want them to for perfect, molding support and soothing pressure relief. Naturally breathable, the latex core guarantees maximum air circulation, eliminating excess humidity and repelling the presence of bacteria and common allergens.

I learned of all the things Natura does to be an outstanding GREEN company:

Natura walks the walk when it comes to reducing carbon emissions
If you know Natura, you know we believe a healthy sleep starts with natural ingredients. But what you may not know is that we practice eco-logic in everything we do – from our plant to our office to how we reach out to our retailers.

These are just a few of the ways we’re protecting our planet. Feel free to steal any of these ideas and make them your own.
    Operations
All lighting in the plant, office and outdoors have been switched out for energy efficient bulbs that require 55% less energy. All of the old bulbs were sent to a recycling plant instead of a landfill.
Ceilings in the plant were painted white to reflect light and reduce lighting usage.
Forklifts and tow motors are all battery operated to reduce emissions within the plant.
All thermostats are regulated electronically to maintain even temperatures throughout the week and reduce temperatures at night and on weekends.
All computers in the plant and offices are shut off every night.
All lights are turned off every night and on weekends.
All paper and cardboard in both the plant and offices are recycled.
All plastic packaging in the plant is recycled.
Printer cartridges are sent to a refurbishing facility where they are cleaned, refilled and resold.
In our Customer Service Department, we have moved a portion of our records to be entirely electronic and are making efforts to offer electronic options available to customers. Online ordering, electronic order confirmation and electronic proofing.
Refillable pens and pencils, non-toxic markers, natural soaps and cleaning supplies are used company wide.
Dry erase boards, projectors and company-wide teleconferencing used to reduce one-use materials in communications.
Recycled coffee filters and reusable coffee mugs and dishes are used by employees.
10% of all profits donated to charities committed to improving lifestyles of the underprivileged.
Wood skids and excess fabrics are donated to charitable causes for reuse.

New Zealand has the benefit of being a large country with lots of room for year-round grazing, but farmers there also practice hand-sheering. Human contact with the animals, rather than mechanical or chemical, prevents needless injury and death.”"”

I have had three cervical/neck/disc surgeries, as well as a rupture at C7, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome surgery, where a rib was removed, and a lower back injury, herniating L5 (lumbar disc). I suffer from fibromyalgia as well. So I was drawn to the post at Natura World Blog about “wool and fibromyalgia”. I learned about a study published in the Journal of Alternative & Complementary Medicine (Apr 2009) that found that fibromyalgia sufferers who slept on wool bedding reported a significant reduction in pain. It’s not a scientific breakthrough and it’s not high-tech. But it works. When you lie down on a wool-filled mattress (or mattress topper) it absorbs pressure and responds by gently cushioning your body. Relieving pressure points. Also, wool absorbs 35% of its weight in moisture before it feels damp. And because wool fibers are constantly in motion, moving moisture from your skin to the environment, your bedding not only feels dry, it is.

I went and read the blog, and I am so happy to learn that they only work with farmers who shear manually (not chemically) and the sheep may not be slaughtered for meat afterward. Sheep live anywhere from 8 to 15 years, and the farmers we work with are invested in keeping their sheep healthy

I learned that emotionally, sleep deprivation puts our moods in the red. Stress and anxiety may keep us awake, but not getting enough sleep increases stress and anxiety. It’s a vicious cycle. What’s more, cutting back on shut-eye feeds depression and increases irritability. I know about sleep deprivation. I have a sleep disorder. Crazy. Thanks for the giveaway!
