Jackson Sage Review and Giveaway PLUS a Recipe!

Jackson Sage is a new company to Prissy Green.  And what a fun shop they have!  Handcrafted soaps, facial and body care, and even Doggie Sage!  Check it out!
DoggieSageAug09SplashpageBut Doggie Sage isn’t what I am here to tell you about today.  Today I want to talk to you about their amazing facial skin care products, and handmade soaps!
When I opened my box of Jackson Sage goodies (disclosure, review items were supplied by Jackson Sage) an amazing aroma of Blue Eucalyptus and Organic Lavender Soap filled the whole room!
BlueEucaLavSoap300
This soap promises to remove impurities and dead skin cells while moisturizing your skin, and revitalizing your senses. Jackson Sage’s Blue Eucalyptus and Lavender Soap is made with Fair Trade Shea Butter, Organic Almond Oil, French Green Clay, Apricot Meal, combined with Blue Eucalyptus and Organic Lavender Essential Oils. All ingredients combine to create a deeply moisturizing and cleansing bar. Awaken your senses and remove those impurities.

I don’t think I have ever seen Lavender and Eucalyptus together.  Maybe it is common, I don’t know.  I am pretty sure i have never had anything with those two scents.  And they work so well together.    Lavender has that mesmerizing scent, that helps me relax, but that is counteracted almost completely by the awakening Eucalyptus.  The lavender takes the bite out, and makes it comforting.

TeaTreeMicro300b

As much as I loved this creamy soap, my favorite item that sold me on Jackson Sage, is their Tea Tree MicroScrub. I like a very light exfoliation to my face, and neck. But I also want the exfoliation to be even. I don’t want to leave my cheeks my raw, and my nose to feel untouched! Not a worry here. Gentle is this Micro Scrubs claim to fame!

Key Ingredients:
*Rhassoul Clay: Rich in minerals, reducess dryness, improves skin clarity, improves elasticity, and skin texture.
* Rice Bran: A gentle exfoliate that is said to prevent wrinkles, heal blemishes, absorb dirt, balance oils, and moisturize.
* Adzuki Bean Powder: Gently exfoliates.
* Sodium Bicarbonate Crystals: Removes dead skin cells.

Since I am on Carley’s Skin care regimen right now, I am using handmade soap to cleanse my face.  The Tea Tree Micro Scrub is perfect with that, suds my face up a little, add a dime sized amount to my palm, work up to my finger tips then smooth all over face.  So gently I can actually use it every day! I haven’t been using it daily, since Carley’s does have some scrubbers in it, but it feels soft and soothing on my skin, no stinging, itching, or dryness during or after rinsing off.

I think I could probably use it as a mask too?  Maybe add a little honey?

All of Jackson Sage’s products are all natural, petroleum free, phalate free, gluten and paraben free, plus Vegan!

TeaTreeSerum300

I have also been using Jackson Sage’s Tea Tree Serum.  Not on my facial skin, but broke out on my back and chest.  The problem was, I had a chemical rash, or at least a major reaction from something.  I am currently trying to find the right laundry soap, and apparently Craig decided to do the same thing. So I am not sure which one it is!  yikes!  OR if that was even the culprit.

Anyways… I started getting these red bumps all over my shoulders (almost to elbows) and they covered my chest and back.  Somewhat itchy, but they were painful!  Not acne.  I started using this Tea Tree Serum a few days after and it really helped them to start drying up and going away.

Check out the soothing, repairing ingredients:
Oil Free Serum with Skin Healing & Repairing Aloe Vera.
Fight Bacteria with Anti-Inflammatory Willow Bark.
Repair damaged skin with anti-microbial Helichrysum.

Normally I would have applied some diaper rash cream and then broken out with acne all over for the next few weeks!  This serum soothed and healed!

So I have a very unique giveaway today, that also includes a Fall Recipe!  These products are perfect for any skin type, especially those that get dry in the winter!

The winner will receive, everything included in this recipe that comes from Jackson Sage.  So everything but the Apple Cider, honey and Apples!

Apple Lavender Masqueapples

You know fall has arrived when the apples are ready to harvest.  Fresh apple make this the perfect time of year to use this beneficial fruit for clearer and smoother skin. Apples contain the an alpha-hydroxy acid, malic acid.  Alpha-hydroxy acids are known to slough of old tired dead skin cells leaving your skin younger and more radiant, and to stimulate collagen production producing  smoother skin. Apples are also rich in antioxidants, Vitamin A  and C, to help protect against the signs of environmental damage.
Try this Apple Lavender Masque for smoother, radiant and clearer skin.

Skin Types: All (if skin is extremely dry, omit the Daily Lavender Scrub and add more Apple Paste)
To Make the Masque:
  • STEP 1.  Make the Apple Paste
(This recipe uses fresh apples, you can substitute fresh apples with apple sauce, no sugar added.  Skip this section if using apple sauce.)
  1. Cut up one apple
  2. But apple into blender, and add 1/4 cup Apple Cider (not vinegar)
  3. Blend until smooth
  • STEP 2:  Clay Masque
Mix the following ingredients together, stir between each ingredient
  1. 1.5 tsp Jackson Sage Lavender Daily ScrubLavenderToner300b
  2. 1.5 tsp Jackson Sage Lavender Toner
  3. 1/4 tsp Honey
  4. 3 pumps of Jackson Sage Lavender Serum
  • STEP 3:  Put it all together
Mix 3/4 tsp Apple Paste with the Clay Masque
Mixture will be slightly lumpy due to the ingredients in the Jackson Sage Daily Lavender Scrub that are designed to exfoliate skin.
Directions for Application:
  1. Clean face using Jackson Sage Cleanser
  2. Mist face with Lavender Hydrating Mist.  If you have combination or oily skin, use Lime Mist.
  3. Apply Apple Lavender Masque, avoiding eye area, gently in a circular motion
  4. Leave masque on for 15 minutes.
  5. Remove with a wash cloth and warm water.
  6. Apply Jackson Sage Lavender, or Tea Tree, Skin Cream
GIVEAWAY!  I have everything from Jackson Sage for you to make this skin Apple Lavender Mask! but don’t worry, you don’t have to make the mask, you can use them all individually too! ;-)

I would love to try the “Recovery Body Cream” in the “Work Out Blend” – it’s a special blend of repairing Shea Butter, healing Aloe Vera, skin firming Atlantic Kelp, free radical scavenger Red Rooibos Tea, and age-fighting Hibiscus extract, combined to repair, firm and tone skin. With the addition of the “Work Out Blend”, you also get the essential oils of Lavender, Juniper, Eucalyptus and the extract and oil of Arnica to relieve pain and inflammation (like Fibromyalgia maybe?)
