NEW: Have a question?  I’ve added a new Q&A forum to our Chemical of the Day Blog.  Now you can ask about products, ingredients, and my recommendations and I’ll answer them for everyone!  Check out some of the highlights below:
Alicia asks:
Q. My question is actually in regards to 2 of the ingredients…Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate and Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM). Any ideas? Thanks!

A. That’s a great question.  MSM is not a dangerous ingredient; in fact many people take is as a supplement to improve joint health.  Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate scores a 0 in the Cosmetics Database, but I’m hesitant to give it a passing grade just yet.

Read the full answer.

Mel Asks:
Q. I have noticed that citric acid is in quite a few “natural” products. From shampoo to bar soap. Is it bad for you? It always seems to appear at the bottom of the ingredient list….so I am guessing that there are minimal amounts of it. Just curious….Thanks!!

A. Citric acid is a weak acid present in all citrus fruits; it’s what gives citrus that nice sour zing!  If it were dangerous, we couldn’t eat oranges!  As a cosmetic ingredient, it depends on how it’s used.

Karen Asks:
Q. Could you please tell me if this ingredient that I am finding in products is Non-comedogenic: Capric/Caprylic triglyceride. I can not find the answer to my question anywhere. If you know, please reply. Thank you so much.

A. Hi Karen, Okay, here’s the scoop… Capric/Caprylic triglyceride, as you’ve probably found out through your research, is also known as fractionated coconut oil. What does fractionated mean?It basically means separated. Coconut oil is a very complex oil…

Brooks Running Shoe Review and Giveaway

August 18, 2009 by Karissa

x01_123197

If you have ever bought a pair of running or walking shoes, I am sure you have tried on, or at least seen Brooks Running Shoes.  They are top of the line, and a sought after shoe by most competitive runners, and fitness runners alike.

Brooks came out with an eco-friendly, bio-degradable running shoe back in 2006, called the BioMoGo.  They even receieved the “Best Innovation”  Award from Runners International for the BioMoGo.  But that isn’t where they stop with being eco-friendly and green.

From brochures and catalogs to P.O.P. and hangtags, we scrutinize our printed pieces and vendor partners for their environmental impact. All paper we use is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), which means it’s made using wood from well-managed forests, company controlled sources, and/or recycled material. We use only soy-based inks; even our metallic inks aren’t harmful to the environment. So what does this mean as an end result? By using more responsible materials for our Spring 2009 Footwear and Apparel catalogs alone, Brooks saved the following:

  • 14,000 lb. of wood from trees (that’s 44 trees)
  • 15,989 gal. of water (enough for 1,599 five-minute showers)
  • 4,877 lb. of exhaust emissions (equivalent to driving a compact car 6,372 mi.)
  • 2,646 lb. of solid waste (equivalent to 91 32-gal. cans of garbage)

Brooks’ eco-friendlier midsole manufacturing process reduces waste by 50 percent as compared to traditional midsole manufacturing methods.

Brooks’ proprietary HPR (High Performance Rubber) Green outsole—featured in our Beast®, Ariel®, Addiction™ Walker, Addiction™ Walker V-Strap, and their entire Trail footwear collection—is a durable, long-wearing outsole compound made from sand rather than oil. This results in saving petroleum, and also gives extra traction in wet conditions.

Brooks distribution warehouse follows a strict environmental policy for energy and materials used for packaging and shipping products, as well as for the building itself.  Brooks uses 90% of their incoming shipping wares to send out going orders.  Then they recycle the remaining 10% with Weyerhaueser.  They have also replaced all of their lighting in 2006 with fluorescent, which made a 30% energy reduction.

I would like to give them a big ol pat on the back for showing inititive and setting an example for so many other companies.

5649_biomogo_dp_bug072808

So more about shoes right?  The BioMoGo Biodegradable shoe will degrade in 20 years, once subjected to composting conditions.  That means that within 20 years time, Brooks alone will save 29.9 million pounds of landfill waste. For you pigskin fans out there, that equals 1,277 football fields covered one shoe deep!

Brooks has over 10 shoes with this advance midsole technology now, and to prove they do care about the enviroment, they have released the formula to other shoe manufactures.  How generous to the earth and other competitors can you be?

Adrenaline GTS9

Adrenaline GTS9

After utilizing Brooks Shoe Advisor program, I was sent their Adrenaline GTS9.  Of course they are made with the BioMoGo Midsoles.  When I received my new running shoes, courtesy of Brooks, I very hastily pulled them on.  They have great support which I need, but yet allow my feet to really breath and hold to core.  I have a problem with pronating (when your ankles start to move inward) and these are made especially to combat that.  I learned that from the shoe advisor.  I would say I have a medium arch, and these really do a standup job of supporting my arch, they maybe would not for arch, but Brooks does carry endless varieties of athletic shoes for all of your needs.

I used them to run for a couple weeks and to work out on my EA Sports Active, but then I started having some major knee pain, and had to take a break.  So now I am continuing with my Bellicon Rebounder until it feels okay.  (yes, yes, i am getting old!)  My feet were a little sore right at first, but I chock that up to needing to be broken in, and because my feet hadn’t had that kinda workout in quite some time!

Brooks has a contest going on right now, for the whole month of August!  It is for a new men and women’s shoe called the Trance9.  All you have to do is try on a pair of Trance9’s and then you will get a scratch off card, with the chance of winning over 3,000 prizes.  One prize?  A sponsorsorship from Brooks, worth $3000!

Make sure you check out all of their accessories and men and women’s clothing too!  They also have kid’s shoes!

I have a special prize for you!  Win your choice of Brooks Running shoe with the BioMoGo Mid-sole! To enter, go to Brooks and tell me any shoe that you would like to have.  It doesn’t have to be a BioMoGo.

Avocado, Recipes, and Their Roll in Dieting

In the later years of life, avocados promote successful aging by providing nutrients that have been linked to disease prevention, including folate, beta-sitosterol, lutein and monounsaturated fat. Avocados also can help maintain a healthy weight as a delicious, satisfying alternative to unhealthy sandwich spreads and salad dressings laden with harmful cholesterol and saturated fat.

  • Folate-Lowers homocysteine levels in the blood stream, which may prevent heart disease, stroke, and Alzheimer’s disease; reduces the risk of birth defects like spina bifida and promotes healthy cell and tissue development.
  • Vitamin E-Helps slow the aging process and protects against heart disease and various forms of cancer.
  • Monounsaturated Fat-Helps lower LDL (bad) cholesterol and boost HDL (good) cholesterol. Avocados are one of the only fruits that provide babies with the “good” fat. Monounsaturated fat is essential for cognitive and visual development.
  • Beta-Sitosterol-Helps inhibit the absorption of cholesterol and promotes lower cholesterol levels.
  • Lutein-Protects against prostate cancer and eye diseases such as cataracts and macular degeneration.
  • Glutathione-Functions as an antioxidant like vitamin E to neutralize free radicals that can cause cell damage and lead to disease.

RECIPE!

Avocado Sweet Spread

  • 1/5 ripe  Avocado (1 oz.)
  • 21/2teaspoons orange marmalade
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 slice whole wheat toast

In medium bowl, mash avocado with a fork. Stir in marmalade, then ginger to taste. Spread on toast and serve. Makes 1 serving.

Nutritional information per serving: calories: 182, total fat: 5.9g, saturated fat: 0.7g, % calories from fat: 29%, protein: 5g, carbohydrates: 28g, cholesterol: 0mg, dietary fiber: 3g, sodium: 173mg

Avocado Sweet Spread is a delicious substitute for butter on your toast in the morning. Spread on whole grain toast or English muffins or serve as an afternoon snack on crackers. It also makes a great dip for strips of red bell pepper, jicama or celery sticks.

To ripen an avocado, simply place in a paper bag with a banana or apple at room temperature until ready to eat, about 2-5 days.

I could easily eat my weight in Guacamole. I am a Guacaholic.  I used to make it pretty plain, but I have since started adding a few more ingredients, and I am even more in love.

Karissa’s Guacamole

Ingredients:

  • 3 Haas avocados, halved, seeded and peeled
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1/2 medium onion, diced
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, seeded and diced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Directions:
In a large bowl place the scooped avocado pulp and lime juice, toss to coat. Drain, and reserve the lime juice, after all of the avocados have been coated. Using a potato masher add the salt, cumin, and cayenne and mash. Then, fold in the onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and garlic. Add 1 tablespoon of the reserved lime juice. Let sit at room temperature for 1 hour and then serve.

Avocados got a bad rap back in the 80’s for being bad for you, and for dieting because they are packed with fat. The real story, is that avocados contain a valuable good fat, monounsaturated fat. Monounsaturated fats can have a beneficial effect on your health… when eaten in moderation and when used to replace saturated fats or trans fats. Monounsaturated fats can help reduce bad cholesterol levels in your blood and lower your risk of heart disease and stroke. They also provide nutrients to help develop and maintain your body’s cells. Monounsaturated fats are also typically high in vitamin E, an antioxidant vitamin most Americans need more of.

Substitute plain mashed avocado on your sandwiches, in wraps, heck even put one on your baked potato that you just have to have! The possibilities are endless. Because they contains enough protein they can be a meat substitute as well.  Plus they have FIBER!  Craig loves BLT’s. Well actually I do too, but I have been trying to cut my meat intake to zelch, and so when he makes his, I simply have a ALTC, which stands for Avocado, Lettuce, Tomato and Cucumber sandwich, it is amazing and fresh.

So why is it effective in weight loss?

  • Its monounsaturated fat speeds up the basal metabolic rate, as compared with saturated fat.
  • Its high fat content gives a quicker feeling of satiation (”fullness”), thus helping to reduce overeating.
  • Its high fat content makes an overall sound diet more palatable, reducing the temptation to binge on foods high in sugars or saturated fats.
  • Its rich supply of vitamins and minerals also makes the diet more wholesome and satisfying and thus more conducive to overall health and to moderation in consumption.

Find more recipes on Avocado.org

And if you get one that is too ripe to eat? Rub that baby all up that mane! and on elbows, face etc. It has incredible healing and moisturizing properties.

EA Sports Active Review and Giveaway

August 18, 2009 by Karissa

First, I really beg you to watch this video.  I would have made my own video, but umm, I don’t look like her when I work out.  lol

EA Sports Active comes with the game disc, a Wii Nunchuk-housing thigh band that tracks running and leg exercises, and a stretchy resistance band for lunging and weightlifting . The use of these two items lets the game replicate a wide range of athletic activities. Add in the Wii Remote, which is used for throwing, punching, and doing curls, and from the comfort of your living room you can take on just about any exercise that you can do in a gym or on a track. The game also supports the Wii Balance Board for a number of activities, although it isn’t a requirement.

As you can see from the video, The EA Sports Active for the Wii, can be quite challenging. Now Sarah, in the video, was stating that you won’t get a great cardio, or you would have to work at getting a good cardio from dancing, but I think it is great for cardio from beginners to mid-active. Now a marathon runner will get bored with the cardio, I agree there. But for anyone not in peak physical condition, I think it is more then suitable.

The work out seems to focus a lot on your core, just in the movement of your body. They do leave out sitting down and actually doing crunches or some other exercise for the tummy, I have seen this mentioned over and over. I personally feel like it gives my abs a fantastic workout. And hey, who doesn’t know how to do a crunch? =) It has you twisting and turning, and if you remember to hold your abs in while doing all the movements, you will feel like you did crunches!

EA Sports Active (Wii) screenshot 1 EA Sports Active (Wii) screenshot 2
EA Sports Active (Wii) screenshot 3 EA Sports Active (Wii) screenshot 4

I have been doing this program for right at about 30 days. I am sold, I like it much better then my Wii Fit, although the Wii fit is good for games, I don’t like it much for a workout. EA moves fairly quickly between screens, which was a major annoyance on the Wii Fit workouts. The fact that is moves from different activities on it’s own program is great. You can of course either make your own program, or select exercises as you go. I have been doing the 30 day fitness challenge. I did fall of the wagon for a couple weeks… Don’t laugh, I hurt my knee running.  Remember when it was raining all over New York?  Well it was low 80’s to high 70’s here, and just too pretty to stay inside.  I got punished though.

Take a look at the EA Sports Active website. They a great site there, with motivation, and forums, and even a blog. It is really great when you are on the 30 Day Fitness Challenge.

I think the hardest thing for me in a solid work out (besides motivation) has always been structure. I know a lot of exercises, but I am never sure of how many reps to do, or how to keep track. This program does all of that for you. And by all means, I didn’t need to throw any more exercises at myself when I was done. It is normally about a 20 minute workout, but give yourself some leeway, as the clock isn’t ticking while instructing you.

41UVhqeeRoL._SS400_

I sincerely love the boxing and the volleyball, Vball was my sport of choice growing up. I was never quite agile enough for anything else.  I have always been supremely uncoordinated. I would say the hardest exercise for me has been the alternating lunges. Basically you lunge forward, then jump from that position to a lunge forward with the opposite leg. The first 7 times I did this I really thought I might die, hurt myself, or not be able to walk the next day. I survived. The great thing, is that EA recognizes this as a touch move, and so they only make you do it once each workout for the initial few. and because non of the exercises are very long in duration, you can easily psyche yourself up to finish strong.

EA also does not throw 40 new exercises at you all at once. They start teaching you core moves, and then build on that gradually. And you can always select to view the demo again, which is really helpful.

EA makes the program capable of working out with a friend, well I have begged and tried to get Craig to try it with me, but he is just not interested, he loves the Wii Fit. I would love to play Volleyball one on one. I would NOT attempt tennis, as I still seem to not have figured that one out. See I can even be uncoordinated gaming! Lol, no really that is the only activity on EA that I can’t quite get.

So to get to the nitty gritty, I have never been and possibly never will be a work out junkie.  I do like how I feel when I exercise, but that doesn’t always mean that I won’t talk myself into watching True Blood instead.  But with that said, EA has kept my attention better then any other piece of work out equipment I have ever used, well besides the Bellicon Rebounder, but hey, how can you resist a mini-trampoline, that you can jump on inside?    I encourage you to at least rent the game at a video rental store, and test it out.   Or you can buy the EA Sports Activehere at Amazon, or any store that carries Wii accessories.

Top 10 Ways to Get Eco-Fit

Brought to you by Ideal Bite!

top10-fitness-blog.jpg

Survival of the Fittest

Wanna dominate at the gym…or at least hold your own when it comes to carrying your reusable bags of groceries (canned goods = serious weights)? Naturally, select one (or all) of our fitness tips to evolve your workout routine.

1. Take it outside.

Save some dough and still ditch that doughy tummy by forgoing the gym membership (and electricity-draining treadmill). Enlist Mama Nature (and all that mood-boosting vitamin D from the sun) to help you get fit by hitting local hiking trails, volunteering for park clean-ups, or trying out a simple 30-minute outdoor workout routine (burns at least 260 calories). Get the full Bite.

2. Clothes call.

Time to kick those ’70s-style polyester sweatpants to the curb. Update your workout wardrobe with natural and sustainable fibers like bamboo and hemp to help your skin breathe when you’re getting all sweaty (skin’s responsible for 1/7 of your body’s respiration). Also, check out cozy organic cotton options to keep pesticides at a distance (regular cotton production is responsible for 25% of the world’s insecticide use). Get the full Bite.

3. Walk the walk.

For short trips, let your feet do the, uh, walking instead of hopping in the car. Even at a leisurely pace, you’ll burn about 100 calories per mile. Plus, walking a mile a day instead of driving will save you about fifteen cents a day, and walking instead of driving 10 1-mile trips a week will avert about 500 pounds of CO2 emissions in a year. Get the full Bite.

4. Curl up and diet.

Skip the cost and potentially severe side effects of lipo and weight-loss drugs by slimming down naturally. Drink metabolism-enhancing green tea (which helps you burn up to 70 extra calories a day), eat breakfast to avoid overeating the rest of the day, and load up on grapefruit to combat diabetes and metabolize sugar. Get the full Bite.

5. Go to the mat.

Get a little closer to nirvana (and farther from nasty chems) while you’re downward-dogging it by opting for an eco-friendly yoga mat. About 90% of conventional mats contain PVC plastic, which releases carcinogenic dioxins during production. Plus, natural rubber and fibers like jute provide better traction than plastic. Get the full Bite.

6. Leggo my preggo (pounds).

Get back down to your prebaby fighting weight with at-home workouts (save money on a gym membership and a sitter) that target problem areas like abs – some routines even involve the little one. Working out at your own casa with a DVD or podcast will also cut down on any transport emissions to the gym or driving your baby to the sitter. Get the full Bite.

7. Break the cycle.

Go Lance Armstrong with your wheels, and hop on a bike. You’ll burn calories (about 173 an hour for casual biking) and save bucks – a typical fam spends about $8,000 a year maintaining a car. Plus, it’s easy on the earth, since biking’s pollution-free. Check out your local bike shops for great used bikes. Get the full Bite.

8. Gear up.

For most activities, you’ve gotta get equipped with the right sports gear, but opting for gently used equipment can save you some dough (it usually runs about half the price of new) and saves resources used for the creation, transport, and marketing of new gear. Plus, you’ll keep the used stuff out of landfills and avoid wasting time breaking in the newbies. Get the full Bite.

9. Stair ‘em down.

Avoid the awkward silences and proximity to others’ BO by bypassing the elevator and taking the stairs instead. Climbing stairs burns up to 10 times more calories than standing in an elevator – plus, depending on the type, capacity, and usage, an elevator’s yearly energy use can equal that of seven homes. Get the full Bite.

10. If the shoe fits…

If you’re gonna hit the ground running, do it in an eco-friendly shoe. Big brands like Nike and Brooks now offer green options using locally sourced materials (Nike) and biodegradable midsoles (Brooks). Also, check out varieties using alternative materials like silicone-based rubber (rather than petroleum and PVC) and animal-free lines that jettison the leather. Get the full Bite.

Just You and Me Kid, Parent and Child Workout DVD, Review and Giveaway

51WjHDlRKOL._SS400_

Just You & Me Kid exercise program was specifically designed to help kids and parents build stamina and get fit together as a family while building healthy habits and bonds that last a lifetime. Enjoy an effective 20 minute cardio and toning workout as well as a more intense 10 minute cardio workout. It’s great for all ages. Promoting overall health while getting you ready for anything in life!

I know during the winter months, the kids are stir crazy, and adults find it hard to get exercise.  It just isn’t plausible to go walking or running when there is snow on the ground.  And in this rough economical times, who can afford a gym membership or a treadmill for home?  Not many.  I think this DVD could be part of the solution to help adults get active and to keep the kids busy, or well to wear them out!

Connie Butera came up with this idea, as she was constantly active with her nieces and nephews, and thought that getting fit TOGETHER, just seemed to be the perfect idea for families.

51UpCdwdGFL._SS400_

I have to say that I gave this tape to my Sister-In-Law to help me review it.  As i don’t have kiddos, I wanted to make sure it got the adult and kid review.  My niece (7 years old) just absolutely adores it and said it is fun.  And my SIL, agreed. It wasn’t too difficult, but yet gave her a really good workout.  She watches kids during the day, and although her kids are in school now, she said this would be a great way to keep the kids she watches active when they can’t go outside, and also gives her a way to really bond with them.

All in all I think this is a total win all the way around.  I might even have to borrow back the DVD and borrow my niece too, so she can give me the motivation to get up and MOVE!  The workout is 20 minutes long, which to me is just long enough to get a good workout, and yet not so long that kids will lose interest easily.

Buy JUST YOU & ME KID: THE WORKOUT FOR PARENTS & CHILDREN DVD at Amazon.  On sale for $15.99!

So I have one copy of this DVD to giveaway!  To enter, tell me something you and your family do to get fit, or stay active together!?

5 Ways to be Lean And Green

Filed under Info You Want to Know

This is a guest post from Sahar of FatFighterTv.  She always has great recipes, tips and trends.  Please hop over and pay her a visit!

5 ways to be lean and green

Whenever I go on vacation, I always try to get outside and explore my surroundings on foot, like here at Silver Creek Falls, Oregon. It’s a nice way to get some exercise and see nature up close. And at home, I try to find eco-friendly exercises when I can. You can, too. Here are 5 ways to be lean and green.vacation2

1. Move it outdoors – This may sound like a no-brainer, but think of all the things you can do outside that only use YOUR energy. Get creative – besides walking, jogging, or biking, you can also skip, do jumping jacks, or run up and down stairs. You can even throw in some strength training along the way – do a few lunges, squats, pushups, or situps.

2. Take a dip – Go for a swim or get some water exercise canoeing, kayaking, or doing water aerobics.

3. Re-think your drink – Bring your own reusable water bottle for your H2O when you workout instead of using paper cups or buying bottled water.

4. Get your green on – Wear workout clothes made of organic cotton, bamboo, or other natural fibers. And try yoga mats made of recycled materials or yoga bags made of hemp.

5. Give your old threads and treads a second life – For example, send your worn-out workout clothes to Patagonia and they will recycle them and turn them into new ones. Or drop off your battered sneakers at a Nike Reuse-A-Shoe collection center and they will use them to make basketball courts, running tracks, and playgrounds.

I’m fortunate enough to live in an area where I’m within a mile or two of my bank, gym, and grocery store, so I walk my errands as much as possible. How about you? Got any green exercise tips to share?

Are you looking for an easy, efficient and fun Exercise? Perhaps you’re concerned with Osteoporosis, your Heart, Joints or Back? Is your focus on Weight Loss, Detoxification or are you looking for a Stress Relieve after a challenging day at the office? Then Rebounding might just be what you are looking for. A “Rebounder” is a miniature trampoline, and “Rebounding” is the term used to describe your “bouncing” motion.

It seems as if every form of exercise has its benefits… and its drawbacks. If it’s exciting, it’s high-risk. If it’s safe it’s not cardiovascular. If it targets one problem area it neglects seventeen others. Maybe there’s one sport that would be absolutely perfect…if it weren’t for your trick knee, bad back or sensitive ankle. Plus, there are just so many questions. Is Yoga or Pilates better for core strength? Is running unsafe if you’re overweight – even if you’re in good health? Does swimming qualify as load-bearing?

There is one simple alternative which takes into account all of these questions- Rebounding. Rebounding is a revolutionary form of exercise recognized by NASA as one of the most efficient form of physical activity.

Use of a Rebounder (often thought of as a “mini-trampoline”) offers the body tremendous benefits; strengthening and supporting virtually every major system of the body. Additionally, Rebounding and its newest evolution called “QiBounding” focuses on the mind-body connection, encouraging conscious breathing and joy. Finally, rebounding is gentle enough that virtually anyone can do it – while receiving great benefits – even a trained athlete will feel and appreciate the benefits.

How can Rebounding help you? Well, first and foremost, Rebounding provides an aerobic workout which tones the cardiovascular system. But, unlike other forms of aerobics, it doesn’t stop there. The gentle bouncing motion of Rebounding actually stimulates the circulation of lymphatic fluid, the body’s waste disposal mechanism, providing direct support to your immune system..

Moreover, the unique surface of the Rebounder itself encourages greater proprioception, which increases balance, improves coordination, and even promotes better vision.

People who use Rebounders regularly have reported a variety of other health benefits, including reduction of pain, increase in energy, and improvements in mental performance.

NASA astronauts have been Rebounding for years, and found this simple – but extremely effective – form of movement actually strengthens every cell in the body through increasing the G-force load the cells carry.

Rebounding offers so many benefits, it’s hard to imagine any improvement. But QiBounding offers the practitioner even greater benefits than Rebounding through its incorporation of breath awareness and focus on the circulation of Qi energy.

Qi is the internal energy which is present in all living beings. Long recognized by practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine as the essence of joy, vitality, and longevity, a healthy, unblocked Qi promotes well being and peace. However, stagnation of the Qi is thought, by many holistic health care practitioners, to lead to infirmity and disease.

So Rebounding is great for your spirit and great for your body. But is it great for everyBODY?
Virtually everyone who isn’t suffering from an acute injury can benefit from Rebounding. In fact, Rebounding is particularly helpful for people with a variety of chronic problems – gentle bouncing helps create space between the disks of the vertebrae, lubricate painful joints, increases bone density and improve the structure of the feet.

Children love the joyful sensation of soaring, while elderly individual or users whose balance is impaired may prefer to bounce with special holding bars. But almost everyone can reap the benefit of Rebounding safely and effectively.

One on the Left is the Bellicon 39, the one I own.

One on the Left is the Bellicon 39, the one I own.

I have had my Rebounder from Qibounding for a little over a month. I am not sure if I have ever felt better in my life. I have energy, and focus, and an all over sense of well-being. It calms me down when i get stressed, and picks me up when I feel blue. How can you not smile while barely moving yourself, yet being thrown (gently) back up in the air.

They key to getting used the Rebounder, is to not worry about letting your feet come off the mat, but rather, the fluid motion, and letting it move you. And of course breathing. Let this be your mediation time. Deep breathing burn calories and when you do it in conjunction with exercise, there are unlimited benefits.

I used to love to run, but lately whenever I try to do anything more then walk, my knee starts to act up. I have not had this problem once with the Bellicon 39 Rebounder that Sylvia at QiBounding sent me. I should also mention here

that Sylvia is the founder of the QiBounding Method. And that the Bellicon Rebounder that she sent me, is truly the Porche of Rebounders. It is sturdy, has 6 legs, strong and the legs screw off. It really is one heck of a piece of exercise equipment. And folks this is no mini-trampoline, this is a work of art! they are made it weight categories, so that you get the best and most effective work out from them. Well actually all of Bellicon’s Rebounders are the high class luxury cars. It is the best of all rebounders.

One of the things I find most interesting is that it can help mothers with incontinence. And you can do it with you child! I know a lot of mom’s that after having 1 or more kids, have bladder issues. See if Rebounding might help you with incontinence!

And check here to see if Rebounding would be good for you, or maybe even a parent or grandparent.

When I got my Rebounder, I was a little confused at what exercises besides jumping straight up and down. Sylvia is currently working on getting a page up to explain some exercises on the QiBounding website. So what I did was started researching it. You can do arm moves, core moves, ab crunching moves and all sorts to work you back! Truly the jumping and twisting, tones the whole body. it is amazing that getting all of your cells to breath and move can have such a major impact on your bodies condition. Get those juices flowing!
