I saw a tweet one day on Twitter, and it read something along the lines of my dogs are afraid of thunderstorms what can I do?  I followed the tweet and saw another one that said to try Calming Collars.

So what else is a blogger to do?  I quickly contacted Deb, that maker and creator of Calming Collars and asked if shemissy-sm
would like to be send me a sample and be featured here on Prissy Green.  Deb was very excited and wanted to send me a collar for each, and even offered to send me her Too Cool or Good To Go collars!  And take note cat owners!  they are made for kitties too!  YAY!

So what is a Calm Me Down Collar?  What does it do?

Calm Me Down Calming Collars (Patent Pending) help with separation anxiety, thunderphobia (fear of thunderstorms) and other bad weather, fireworks or other loud noises, and in most stressful situations like a trip to the groomer or to the vet. They have also been effective in controlling excessive barking and have helped relax hyper-active dogs and puppies.

leo-smThis was the first blend of herbs we developed. They were mixed to help the wearer overcome stress and anxiety and just be a bit more relaxed. They can be effective all day long. You can clip one on your pet when you leave the house in the morning, and not worry if it will be still working late in the afternoon – long after any medicine would have worn off. Or your dog or cat can just wear one for a few hours to reduce anxiety, during a storm or for a stress free vet visit. Cut down on your cat and dog anxiety!

Have a really tough case? Just let me know and I can add a few additional herbs — ones that make “normal” dogs and cats just curl up and snore! But they might just be what your pet needs to help him or her to finally relax.

Bleu and Baylie looks so ridiculously adorable in their collars. And it is so amazing because they actually work. xena-smBayles shakes, and trembles during thunderstorms and we have had our fair share of bad storms this summer. I have tried countless concoctions to try and keep her nervousness at bay, and they only thing that ever worked was a strong pill.  And I hated to give that to her every time it stormed!  Somtimes that could be daily for a week!  Not to mention fireworks make both of them nervous. I won’t say that they relax enough to sleep themselves, but they are effective enough to get them to chill enough to not wake us in the middle of the night. Or they wake us just long enough to get the Calm Me Down collars on and then we get to go back to sleep. That is a miracle!


I used to sleep in the bathroom with both dogs, while it was storming out. It was the only way for anyone to get any sleep. Bayles tries to dig to China during storms and this has let her relax, and curl up on the bed.

    Millie (our dog) is also scared during storms. She paces around and whines until it’s over. And of course fireworks and vet visits make her nervous as well.
    Thunderstorms are fairly infrequent here, so we haven’t resorted to getting any medicine for her – but when they do happen we don’t get much sleep!

    I like the Grape Scrolls fabric – and definitely the Calm Me Down.

    Oh my gosh, this would be so perfect for my older dog. She is almost 13 and gets so stressed during storms. Her whole body shakes and she starts to breathe heavy. I worry so much when this happens. I would choose the Calm Me Down Collar with the turquoise on brown fabric.

    Wow – desperately need the Calm Me Down collar for my dog. He barks a lot, but he has major thunderstorm anxiety – so much so that the vet has suggested drugs (yikes!) I love the Sage Paws print.

    Oh wow I could so use this product. I have a German Shepherd who is terrified of rain and thunderstorms. Seriously, it doesn’t even have to involve lightening and thunder, rain is enough to send her into a full blown tizzy. Did I mention it doesn’t even have to be hard rain. Just a sprinkle will do. She was born the night Hurricane Francis blew into Florida and I keep thinking that might be why she hates storms…who knows for sure??? We have tried over the counter herbal pills and they don’t seem to help much. The pills from the Vet are just too strong to give to her as often as it storms here in Florida.     I think this is just the neatest idea. I have a kitty who is terrified even of us…just a very timid baby. I think he would really benefit from the
    Calm Me Down Collar and that is what I would pick if I won. I would get the extra small size, since he is a slender cat. I would also get it in the Cats on Black fabric.

    This is just to cool. Our dog Tazzy could really use a calming collar. Maybe this would help him with strangers. He is afraid of people so he shows aggression toward them until he gets to know them. He is part Shar-pie and Pug. He would need a x-large and he would like the Canine Chronicles pattern.

    Santos needs the Calm Me (the hell) Down collar. No living thing or the wind is supposed to come within 100 feet of her home. Maybe with the calm me down collar, I won’t be awaken by a shrill barking dog who lies at the foot of my bed every morning when the mail man comes. How dare he!

    These are so cute! Tough to choose; I would either pick the “Too Cool” because Yoshi is melting away in this summer heat with his thick shih tzu hair when we’re out for walks, or “Calm Me Down” for those times when he’s in need of calming down. Hard to choose a pattern, too….but I think I’d go with either “Flags” or “Black Paisley”

    I love the Bones on Red for Jimmy ,he gets so stressed when we have to leave,he tears apart the house. I have walked in and he has even curtains ripped down! Someone is always with him but when my Mom has to go to the hospital and we leave its total chaos,maybe this will help

    I REALLY need these. I have 6 dogs right now. The Basset needs destressing desperately. The bark collar that we tried just made her depressed so I hate to use it. The bones on tan would match her perfectly and of course the calming collar.
