I was approached from twitter about doing a review and giveaway for BagItAgain.com. i had to admit to John, that I have plenty of reusable bags. I felt a little silly taking yet another bag! Even it was for a review. BagItAgain’s Jute bags are biodegradable shopping bags. I am not sure if any of mine are biodegradable!

So he decided to go ahead and have me feature him here and let you all have a chance to win a super nice Variety pack! Go John!

So what is Jute? Jute is a rain-fed crop that grows in warm and humid climates with little need for fertilizer or pesticide. It is harvested between 120 and 150 days, after it reaches a height of eight to twelve feet. Its fast growth and ease of cultivation make jute a highly sustainable source of fabric for many commercial and consumer uses. Jute is regarded as the second most important vegetable fiber after cotton in terms of usage, global consumption, production, and availability.

Jute, known as “The Golden Fiber” due to its golden, silky shine, is regarded for its high tensile strength and stretch resistance. Jute fabric, also known as burlap has long been used for commercial and food packaging, carpet and linoleum backings, and for erosion control in the agricultural sector. And, it is 100% biodegradable. The properties of jute fabric make it a natural choice for reusable consumer bags that are strong, durable, and environmentally friendly.show_image_in_imgtag.php

I know you all know that you can use reusable bags for just about anything, your quick stop shop at the drugstore, to the grocery, farmer’s market or even the mall!

variety_pack_500

The reason I remember to take my bags is because Kroger gives me 5 gas points per bag..or you can take 4 cents credit off your bill per bag. We take the gas points because for each dollar you spend at krogers is 1 gas point.

When you reach 100 pts you get 10 cents off per gallon of gas. That is a real help getting 10 cents off per gal.

Between what we spend and my 6 bags that I bring we easily have those points.

LOL – I am the PERFECT person to ask this question. I thought it would help to leave them in the car. No – I still forget them. I thought it would help to leave them in the front seat of the car. No – I still forget them I thought it would help if I had to embarrass myself in front of the cashiers and tell them that I had forgotten my reusable bags yet again, so they needed to put the groceries back in the cart but not put them in bags. No – I still forget them. If I’m only doing a little shopping, I have a GREAT bag from Avocado Bags. It’s made out of stuff that feels like parachute fabric, and easily stuffs itself into an attached self-fabric container – about the size of a plastic Easter Egg, and it easily fits in my purse without taking up too much room. But if I have a lot of shopping, I will actually leave my cart in a store aisle and walk back out to the car to get my reusable bags. But it WOULD be nice if I could somehow remember!

I’ve actually purchased a few and leave them in my front passenger seat. If I forget to return one to the car after my grocery trip, i am usually ok because I have multiple.

I once took all of the plastic bags that my hubby kept bringing home from the store and cut them into strips. Then I tied them together and attempted to crochet a rug for the front door with them. I never finished it. But the work was enough to remind hubby and I to bring the reuseable bags!!!

Two or three reuseable shopping bags stay in the front passenger seat of my car at all times.
I don’t carry a purse (use a zipper pocket in my jacket or pants instead) but it’s fairly easy to remember to take the bags into the store when they’re right there beside me.

    Thank you for the contest.

I tend to forget them, too. I have several bags, so I really try to keep at least one or two in the car with me. I’m getting a little better at remembering to just go back out to the car for 30 seconds and put the empty bags away.

Truth be told I order my groceries online but I always opt for the no plastic bags option and the groceries arrive in boxes which the delivery person helps me to unload and then takes them back to the store to reuse or recycle when they get too weary. I do however like to shop the weekend yard sales and I always take my own bags (many regular yard and garage sale holders save their plastic bags and use them) and also when I am on a shopping trip for other items. I remember them by stuffing all of them in a brightly striped beach bag that hangs inside the closet on a hook right next to where I hang my purse.

I have about twice as many bags as I need for a shopping trip. I keep them in the backseat of the car. After I take my groceries and unpack them I try to immediately take the bags back out to the car. If I don’t for some reason I’ve still got some to use on the next trip.
