Why Lush Won’t Ever Save Me.

I have had a few people ask me to feature Lush on my blog lately. I think some people are confused by Lush, and granted they have some pretty dope (sounding) products, they still use some questionable ingredients and that is why I will not feature them. (although maybe this post is a feature? lol) I will admit their site is completely intoxicating and they have some great marketers!
SLS, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, that nasty chemical used for heavy degreasing of machines and floors. Also a known acne contributing agent. I think it goes with out saying, this would most likely dry up your skin and cause premature wrinkles too.
Parabens, Along with SLS I probably don’t even need to go into this, but the quick fact? Has been found in women’s breast tissue that have breast cancer. eww. no thanks!
Propylene Glycol, weakens cell structure, so other additives (whether natural or not) can penetrate the skin. Some say it is okay in small quantities. The web and soap makers are all over the board on this one!
I don’t really research a company once I get to those ingredients so there might be more, but my job here is done! =)
NOW I will say they have a few items that are ok. (their lip balms contain alcohol and well that just plain isn’t neccasary so those are on my no no list too)
Their Bath Bombs are okay, but why add perfume if you already have essential oils?
This isn’t a bash on Lush, trust me, their are TONS and oodles of tons of companies that have way worse ingredients, or at least more of those gross ingredients in their products, I just wanted to clarify with some readers why I wasn’t in a rush for Lush.
On a side note separate from Lush, I will admit, that I am not the end all know it all of all things green and natural, BUT please always refer back to your Dirty Dozen list and make sure those ingredients are not in your products. Green Blogs are popular and some other blogs are getting in on it, but will feature a product like the one mentioned, so it is truly and always up to you to protect yourself and your family. (no I am not bitching about other blogs, everyone needs a piece of the pie but don’t tout a product as natural if you don’t know what is in it.)
be well pretties. if you ever have a product you would like me to try review or feature, my door err email box is always open! Prissy Green at gmail dot com.

Not long after I made the comment about Suki I visited Beautorium and when I saw Suki on there I knew it was a good brand. I really like it. I've been using their toner and I didn't have a breakout this month. The eye cream is helping the dark circles, too. I'm on the fence with the mascara.
suki is good stuff Jayne!
I've been using a brand called Suki and I don't think they have any junk in them. At least I didn't see anything on your list. So far I really like the products.
yea, I don't think their sales people probably even know that their is perfume in them. sad.
Thank you so much for posting this. I went into a shop in my local mall once, way back when I started making my own products, and they scared me with their ingredient lists too. Just for kicks, I tried a couple of samples, and couldn't believe how inferior they were to the natural stuff I had tried, and had been playing around with making myself. And the prices are criminal.
Oh boy! I didn't know that!
I only enter their shop once and since, I avoid like pest… I simply can't stand the smell of their shop, or the smell of any of their product for that matters…
I think I did not stay long enough to look to their ingredients, but when I ask for an unscented product, they told me it was all essential oils… yeah right, but it still smell like your nose will never get back to normal…
