Today always signifies sunbathing season to me. I think it is because around here there is always the Indianapolis 500 around the corner and EVERYONE goes there and gets FRIED! I mean scary fried. Drunk fried. I wish I could share some pictures but I haven’t been in many moons. But the mister goes and so this month more then ever signals me nagging him about sunscreen. He is super fair skinned and burns easily, and yet never seems to think about it. Me on the other hand, I tan rarely burn but apply sunscreen like there is no tomorrow. Go figure, what was that book, Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus? Can we move those even further apart? lol

Okay so here are some good remedies to help you and your families out this spring and summer! Bookmark this page, or there is a link at the bottom where you can share it and spread it around. I think you will find it really helpful. better to have it in your hot little hand before it is burnt then when it is right?

First there are many things you might already have in your house that can help. But remember always, that COLD water isn’t best. This can trigger seizures and shock, so cool and even lukewarm are best to start, then you can get it cooler but never COLD.

Also never do straight oils right at first, that is going to lock that burn heat in, and you are going to be even more uncomfortable. Jojoba, Shea Butter and Coconut (all unrefined) are ok, they penetrate that skin really quickly so they sink down, but all others are out, until after the burn is gone.

You can make your own Cucumber Lotion if you would like? I see some of you nodding your heads, you like eh?
Juice a cucumber with a lemon juicer (cut into wedges)
Add 1/4 cup of pure glycerin
1/4 cup of mineral water (best choice) or distilled water
10 drops of lavender oil
MIX WELL!

Vinegar
There are many ways you can use white vinegar to help sunburned skin. Either take a cool bath with about 1 cup of water, not a full bath, just enough to be able to gentle move the water around all parts of burned skin. Or you can put into a spray bottle and mist the skin. Or you can put on cloths and apply to skin and wait for skin to dry. This helps to take the heat out and the redness will also subside.

Don’t forget to DRINK WATER! You are probably dehydrated, eat fresh fruit, veggies and drink water, avoid high fat foods! Eat foods high in Vitamin E.

Take Ibuprofen. This is an anti-inflammatory.

TEA! Most people have tea in their homes, the best is a black non-herbal tea but any will do. You can pretty much do this the same way as the vinegar. You need to boil 4 cups of water and seep the tea bags, usually about 6 should do the trick after seeping for about 5 minutes add some ice to cool the water off. Keep the tea bags, you can reuse them. Put into a spray bottle or use clothes to put on the skin. The tannins in the tea will help pull the heat and burn out.

Aloe Vera! If you don’t have a plant at home (we don’t) find pure or as pure as you can get, Aloe Vera and apply to the skin after treating with the above. Then alternate. Making sure you are washing with with a good skin friendly soap. I would suggest a Goats Milk Soap. They are so gentle and Moisturizing.

Something that would be really helpful. The Vinegar and Tea mixes would be greatly helped if you added a few drops of Tea Tree Oil or Lavender Oil. Or a couple of each. I wouldn’t over due it. Or if you use Aloe Vera, add it to that. Just make sure you dilute it.

Good Luck I hope this helps! and if you have many blisters, or are feverish, go to the ER! I am not trying to replace a doctor in any form, just trying to make you more comfortable!
