Skoy Cloth Review and Giveaway

April 7, 2009 by Karissa

Skoy Cloths were made by Michelle and Karen, two stay-at-home moms in 2007. They wanted a cloth that performed better than what they had used and was environmentally friendly. So they started Skoy.

The cloths are made of renewable raw materials such as cellulose (derived from wood) and cotton to produce Skoy cloths. The factory is heavily invested in developing and implementing an environmental recycling and disposal facility. By-products are purified and recycled as much as they can be. They are working hard to make there product and factory as “green” as they can.

The cloths can be put in the dishwasher, microwave, or washing machine to be cleaned and reused. They are 100% biodegradable and natural. They absorb 15x their own weight! It also outlasts 15 rolls of paper towels so they will save you a ton of money.

Since Skoy Cloths are reusable and washable it can last a very long time, some people still use them after a year. A normal life cycle of a SKOY cloth starts in the kitchen to wipe countertops and table tops. After using the SKOY for a week or two in the kitchen, it can be renewed in the washer and “downgraded” for indoor cleaning such as floors, bathrooms, etc. After a few months in this stage, being washed a couple of times, the SKOY can then be used for outdoor messes, such as wiping patio furniture as well as for garage use. This is the great thing with SKOY, it can be used over and over again. And at $5.99 for a 4 pack they are pretty cost effective!

I have been using Skoy for about 6 weeks now. I love it for wiping the counters up, especially after doing dishes. Really soaks up all the water left over. We don’t really have a lot of spills around here so I haven’t needed to use it for that. BUT I have used them several times in the bathroom. When I shower I constantly forget to grab one of the new items I am trying or a washcloth. So I end up stepping out soaking wet and needing something to get all that off the floor. These are the best thing I have ever used for that! Usually I would use a towel then that towel is dirty and can’t re-use until washed. The Skoy I can rinse out, and pop in the microwave for a minute to disinfect, or throw in with a load of dishes.

We also have a garden tub and after trying a couple products in there it had that “oil” residue that is pretty hard to get rid of. I used the Ecover bathroom cleaner and the Skoy cloth and was able to wipe it all away pretty fast. They hold water but aren’t quite like a washcloth that would be sopping wet, you don’t need sopping wet when you are cleaning!

Skoy has been kind enough to offer you a chance to try their super cloths! I have (3) 4 packs to give to 3 Prissy Green readers!

I learned that they’re compostable — “SKOY cloth broke down completely within 5 weeks.” It’s been a while since we had room for a compost heap, but I think that’s pretty cool :-)
