In 2003, Honest Tea became the first bottled tea manufacturer in the US to market a Fair Trade certified product, our Peach Oo-la-long. Subsequently, we added Kashmiri Chai (no longer available), Pomegranate Red with Goji Berry and our Just Green and Just Black teas to the Honest Tea list of Fair Trade offerings. In 2008 Jasmine Green Energy Tea, Peach White Tea and Lemon Black Tea proudly joined the Honest Tea Fair Trade certified family.
Fair Trade certification ensures that workers on estates receive a fair share of profits and that the estate complies with specific criteria set by Trans Fair International to ensure equality and fairness. A joint body of workers decides how to reinvest profits from the tea to support community development projects.
Less Sugar
At Honest Tea, we are alarmed by the obesity epidemic gripping our nation. Super-sweet beverages loaded with high-fructose corn syrup are often blamed for America’s growing waistlines.
We believe that great-tasting beverages don’t need to be loaded with sugar. In fact, they may have no sugar at all. From our Unsweetened Just Green and Just Black teas (no calories, no sugar) to our line of “tad sweet†drinks (50 calories or fewer, sweetened with organic cane sugar), Honest Tea and Honest Ade can be a healthy and delicious part of a sensible diet.
All Honest Tea products are certified as meeting the USDA’s organic standards. This means that our beverages and tea bags are produced without antibiotics, pesticides, irradiation or bioengineering. Organic farmers are required to adhere to certain soil and water conservation methods, and their practices are monitored by third-party certification agencies.
Our PET bottles are fully recyclable (PETE 1), Phthalates free, don’t leach, and require less energy to produce and ship. Additionally, they are not made with the chemical Bisphenol A (BPA).
All of the Honest Tea’s are delicious. And the Ade’s are as well! Because they don’t have all the extra sugar they don’t make you even more thirsty afterwards! There are so many flavors to choose from. My two Ade flavors that are my favorites are, the SuperFruit Punch and the Pomegranate Blue! The Mango Green Tea is AMAZING! So is the Lemon Black Tea!
