Eco-Gear Giveaway! 6 winners Plus offering free shipping!

Here is what Eco-Gear says about themselves:
When we set out to create ecogear clothing, we looked at all the different processes involved in making clothing as we knew it then. These included massive deforestation for cultivating fibres from plant or animal or a heavy dependency on oil. The process gets worse as it moves from fibres to finishing, where toxic chemicals are used to finish and color the fabrics.
In staying true with our corporate policy of planet, people and animals, we developed our ecofabric which adds another eco factor to the equation, recycling and landfill diversion. The clothing is not only body friendly but environmentally correct and
They take Eco-friendly to a whole new level! I am so impressed with their values and beliefs but they don’t scrimp on anything! They give 10% of their US Sales to kids-vs-global-warming to support them in their efforts to raise awareness among schoolchildren, of the ecological disaster that could be theirs to inherit if we don’t do something about it now. To support this cause directly, please visit www.kids-vs-global-warming.com.
This may surprise you but they also have a furniture line! Impressed yet? Well check it out!
They also have a great selection of outdoor furniture, I am going to have to talk to the mister about that, we need some new outdoor furniture pretty badly!
This is furniture with the lightest environmental footprint. Using traditional methods of furniture making, each piece is crafted by hand by artisans who grew up working with these materials.
In designing our furniture, we used materials and processes that would have the least impact on the environment. This is why we chose to use full pieces of bamboo.
They also have beautiful crafted pieces from their Coco Ware section. Including salt and pepper shakers, plates and bowls and so much more. Eco-friendly because it grows so much faster then traditional hard wood used for this purpose.
They also offer a wonderful selection of body care items too! and Jewelry!
Ecogear jewellery is all natural fashion jewellery. Made from tree nuts and natural seeds, these exotic creations conjure up images of sizzling Latin America! Handmade and designed in Colombia by Sandra Fonseca, this is a fairly traded product that is most environmentally friendly. Our all natural products including our fine tagua jewellery are our way of saying that this is the only way to sustainable living.
Check out everything Eco-Gear has to offer!
Eco-Gear has very generously offered 6 winners their choice of shirt!

I think the number one thing we do for the environment is to not do any recreational shopping. We think carefully about all our purchases, buy things that we either need or love, and don’t buy cheap things that are just going to break.
The second most important thing I do is hang my laundry outside instead of using the dryer.
Both of these things help the environment, and save us a ton of money.

We currently recycle all we can, and I freecycle things we no longer use – so others may continue to use them instead of throwing them away. I try to remember to take my own bags to the store when I shop. I remind my children to turn off all lights, appliances, etc that they are not using.

We were all clothes shoppers. We went this entire winter season without buying any new winter clothes. And we actually did very well. We compost. Unplug everything when not in use. Turn thermostat down. Grill in place of using oven. Take our own mugs to coffee shop instead of getting their throwaway cups and lids. tasardina@yahoo.com
My husband and I recycle! It’s so nice because there’s a recycling bin outside of our apartment complex, so it makes it easy to do!

To help our environment we are no longing purchasing bottled water, which we used to purchased 24 packs of it every week! Now the entire family has their own personal hydration vessel which we keep refilling with water so we are no longer throwing away countless plastic water bottles! We are also bring 8 different canvas bags with us whenever we go shopping so we do not use any plastic store bags. This has cut down on our taking home hundreds of plastic bags from the stores every few months! Of course we always are recycling anything we possibly can. We are also only using CLF lightbulbs in all of our light fixtures throughout the house! Conserving on energy usage whenever we can is also another step we have been taking! Thank you for the opportunity to enter.

I’ve been doing curbside recycling for years, but am now looking at my discards for possible repurposing. I’m also concentrating more on reducing and reusing, which I think are more important than just recycling. I buy used when practical (no used undies for me!) and repair when possible.
I love the sustainable energy bike tee.
I’ve quit buying water in plastic bottles and now use a stainless steel reusable water bottle and drink tap water. I also try and ride my bike when I have short distances to go.

We have turned down the thermostats on our furnace and our hot water heater. We use environmentally friendly cleaners and detergents. We keep our cars tuned up, free of leaking fluids and dispose of old fluids to the appropriate place. We return old prescriptions and outdated medications to the pharmacy instead of down the drain to prevent pollution to the ground water. We use a water filter instead of bottled water. Can’t think of anything else right now.

I’ve always had a pet peeve about littering and I’ve actually gotten a couple of people to stop doing so. I’ve been more interested in “green” products and I like that there is more information out there about ways you can do so. Earth day button up
We are taking steps daily to keep our earth clean and our living more healthy. We use only canvas totes for shopping, re-usable water bottles for drinks, use a water filter instead of buying filtered water in plastic bottles, turn of electricity when we don’t need it, try to cook meals daily that don’t require any extra electricty, turning water off when not needed (shower and brushing teeth), using earth friendly products in our home!
Your Earth Day button is on my blog
We recycle everything. What the curbside pickup doesn’t take we will take the rest to a recycling place that does take it. We also use our own bags when we shop.
I have really started trying to do things that are better for the environment. I have made my husband aware that he leaves the faucet running on full while he brushes his teeth, and he also leaves every light on when he leaves a room. Since *nagging* him a bit about it, he doesn’t do these things any more! We also replaced lightbulbs with the newer ones, I have reusable grocery bags, and I use old plastic grocery bags as padding when I ship items!
I am teaching my shildren about recycling and environmental responsibility. We planted a garden and bring our own bags to the store. We also drive less and walk more!

We are recycling as much as possible. Our county dump is free. They have a recycling center where we can put our plastics, newspaper, cans, etc. We compost our non-meat food scraps for our garden. I recycle clothing into tote bags for shopping, pillows, quilts, etc. Old T-shirts are cut into strips and crocheted into rugs. We compost our lawn trimmings for the garden. I only shop every 2 weeks and plan my route carefully so I don’t backtrack causing me to use more gas for our van.

We are recycling more and more, we are bringing LESS junk into our home, and we’ve become aware of wasteful company packaging. We’ve become vegetarians due to an increased awareness of animal misuse, and the amount of land stressed to provide grains for meat products, etc (many people are not aware of this)! We also are learning to use more earth friendly old time items – e.g. ants typically won’t cross chalk, so you can use chalk instead of dangerous chemicals to repel the little critters. From hair coloring to cosmetics, to clothing and packaging, utilities… there is so much to learn and do but we are trying to increase our knowledge
It’s a beautiful world and we want to help keep it that way!
