Formulation

We believe the formulation of beneficial and synergistic herbs, essential oils and natural ingredients is truly an art form. We work continuously to source natural and organic ingredients using responsible methods. We search for ingredients with uniquely beneficial traditional and therapeutic properties.

Essential Oils

Genuine natural products are based on essential oils. This means that they contain no synthetic ingredients made in a laboratory. This can be an issue given the range of chemical sensitivities and allergic reactions that can arise from the combination of chemicals and artificial fragrances in our environment. Essential oils from plants connects us to the botanical world and are renowned for their therapeutic and beneficial effects.

Fragrances and Colors

We never use artificial colors, dyes or fragrances in our products. We choose to use only pure essential oils to provide our products with their signature scent. The herbs we select color our products naturally so that the true properties of the herbs radiate through.

Sustainable Sourcing

We have initiated the sowing and harvesting of our proprietary botanicals and intend to increase our direct involvement in the growing of our ingredients. We believe that we have a responsibility in the land stewardship that yields the ingredients which make up EO^®.

Paraben and Synthetic Free

We take the path less traveled and choose not to include synthetic colors, fragrances or harsh chemicals in any of our products.

Packaging

As a manufacturer we believe in being a part of the solution. We take responsibility for this by choosing to make our bottles from recycled PET bottles that have been collected and re-cast into our signature blue bottles. We believe it’s how we can do our part to decrease waste accumulating in our landfills.

When I had a chance to sample some awesome EO goods, I was amazed at the package they sent. I have some lovely French Lavender essential oil. I was THRILLED! I ran out when I made some cream for all the ladies in my family for Christmas this year and had not replenished my supply yet. and this is the real deal! Such a fragrant gorgeous scent that can do so much, there are so many benefits of this one little bottle! (theirs sells for only $9.99 for a .33oz bottle)

• Rub on to soothe aching pains, sprains, and stiff joints
• Helps to combat any kind of muscular fatigue
• Add in hot foot bath to take away exhaustion
• Use it for all skin eruptions and burns
• Will disinfect bruises, cuts, infections, and insect bites
• Can also be used to combat parasites on pets
• Put a few drops in boiling water for herbal facial steam
• Add a couple drops to make your bath aromatic, stimulating, and soothing
• Dilute it as a wash to take away morning eye puffiness
• Mix with alcohol or water to make a toilete water
• Put a couple drops on a loofah or on a bath mitt for an invigorating scrub
• Add to you favorite massage oil to enliven your body
• Place a couple of drops on palm and massage scalp or, rub on brush bristles, then brush hair thoroughly
• Stimulates hair growth and conditions scalp
• Reduces split ends
• You can also use Lavender oil diluted with water as a hair rinse to reduce oiliness
• Massage a couple of drops on temples and forehead
• Evaporate in sauna to relieve stress and tension

• Perfume your pillow for a soothing and fragrant sleep

I am not usually into using Hand Sanitizers that often as they typically dry me out, but EO’s Lemon Eucalpytus did nothing of the sort. It leaves my hands nice and soft and smelling good too!

I was also able to try the Chocolate and Mint Body Lotion. This smells just like a Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookie. It is quite AWESOME! The texture is light and not greasy and at all, more velvety and smooth. Quite luscious without the heaviness. (8oz bottle is only $8.99!!)

I am going to have to sample one of each of these lotions, they have several other “flavors” to choose from, such as: French Lavender, Rose Geranium & Citrus, Rose Chamomile, Unscented with Coconut Milk, Grapefruit and Mint, Lemon Verbena and lastly Jasmine!

I am still using this lotion as well as this lovely Peppermint and Tea Tree Hand Wash. I actually had put it in the guest bathroom but liked it so much I moved it back to my sink! I couldn’t resist! I love this because it doesn’t actually dry my hands out but they are really clean afterward. It is nice to finally find a balance. I have used so many natural cleansers that only do one, this truly is the cake and the icing! Plus it smells phenomenal! (12oz is only $8.99!)

Last but certainly not least, I was able to sample their glorious Lavender Bath Salts. I used to not take as many baths at what I have been taking since I started this blog. It is so nice to relax and take a bath after dinner now. Auh, can you just feel the tension leave? The bath salts help seep the lactic acid out of your sore muscles, probably soreness you had not realized you even had (yet). These are scented so delicately with their fresh and perfect French Lavender that you will want to just slip right into bed. Of course, you won’t be able to, as we all have lives, and duties to do afterward, but for those few minutes of bliss, you can dream can’t you?

They have some of the better prices I have seen of a natural company. They have hair, body and even cleaning products! I highly encourage you to check them out on your next shopping endeavor!

Frontier Soups Review and Coupon!

I find so much delight in SOUP! I think it is aces for winter and cold days with grilled cheese but I also love it for rainy Sundays. Keep it simmering on the stove and grab at it when you feel like it. Frontier Soups lets you be a homemade soup chef right in your own kitchen in just a few minutes with very few ingredients.

Nutrition: All natural premium dried ingredients in each soup mix contain no added salt, preservatives or msg. and most soups are gluten free.
Convenience: Easy-to-follow soup recipes with all the seasonings in the package make home cooking fun. A few additions complete each meal.

Take for instance their South of the Border Tortilla Soup. (take my word for it, this soup is fantastic!)

Recipe Additions: 6 cups chicken broth 1 cup water 2 whole, boneless, fresh chicken breasts, cut up into small pieces or shredded leftover cooked chicken 8 ounces salsa 4 ounces tortilla chips, crumbled (a thicker chip works best) or 4 to 6 fresh tortillas, cut into strips and fried quickly

Tortilla Soup Recipe Directions: In a 3 or 4 quart pot bring broth and water to a boil, add tortilla soup mix and chicken. Simmer, covered, for 20 minutes. Add salsa and simmer, covered, 10 minutes more. Crumble chips into bowls, pour hot soup on top and serve.

TA DA! You have this! the mix is only $6 plus most of those ingredients are staples in our house! serves 6.

The mister doesn’t like corn. (yea, I know weird right, poor guys lives in Indiana and doesn’t like corn!) so I was able to eat off of this all week for lunch, it was the perfect amount of beans for protein and chicken meat too. the seasoning was just fantastic. I used Herdez Salsa, you can find it in cans or jars in the ethic aisle at most grocery stores.

One of my choice soups to pick up at the store has been Italian Wedding Soup over the last few years. (well besides split pea but that is mostly to gross the mister out!)
Now this soup is a little more trouble but I can attest for Frontier Soups and for your family, that is is so very much worth the effort. serve with some crunchy bread drizzled with Olive oil and you have one heck of a meal!

Additions: 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 small to medium onion, chopped 1/2 pound turkey Italian sausage, about 3 links 1 egg white, beaten 4 cups chicken broth 1 small head escarole, chopped, about 2-3 cups (may substitute 1 box frozen spinach)
Optional: shredded Parmesan cheese

Italian Wedding Soup Recipe Directions:
To Prepare the Meatballs: Push the turkey sausage out of the casings, discard casings. Use two knives and chop/slash the whole grain breadcrumb/herb mixture and egg white into the ground turkey. Form small meatballs by hand, about 30-35. Set aside in refrigerator until ready to add to the soup.

Cooking Tip: Meatballs can be messy, but we have a clever tip for all cooks: Place a bowl of cold water beside you as you form the meatballs and dip your fingers in the bowl after every second or third meatball and you’ll find the meat does not stick to your finger tips. This is one really good soup, and worth the trouble!

To Prepare the Soup: In a 4-quart pot, sauté onion in oil for 2-3 minutes. Stir in contents of the larger soup seasoning packet, about 30 seconds. Add broth and bring to a boil. Add meatballs and simmer 20 minutes covered. Bring heat up to a boil and add tiny pasta and escarole. Reduce heat to a simmer, cover and cook 10-15 minutes.

This was so spoiling. i am not sure if I can ever go back to my canned Italian Wedding soup again! Danger I tell you! but so worth it. And only $5.50 for the whole pre-mixed package!

YUM! As my mom says, and well everyone else, I eat some strange foods sometimes. I have been known to saute a bag of frozen Okra with a tablespoon of Coconut Oil and eat that for dinner. That doesn’t work so well now that the mister and I live together, he likes meat for dinner. lol.

I was originally drawn to Nutiva for the Hemp Oil and Shelled Hemp Seeds, as I had heard really good things about the nutritional quality. But when they also offered to send me their Coconut Oil who was I to say no? We were out and it would give me a chance to go back to my Coconut Okra specialty some night! I also want to mention that there is not THC in these Hemp products, which is what makes people get “high” off of smoking marijuana, so consuming these will not give you any sort of a buzz expect that ever present happy belly food buzz!

The Hemp Oil is fantastic as an addition to Olive Oil in salads, it adds a nutty flavor and takes a little of the bite out of acidity in some dressing mixes we use.
Hemp Oil is a great source of Omega 3 Fatty Acids, out bodies do not product EFA’s and we generally get an overabundance of Omega 6 in the US, so getting a source that just contains Omega 3 is fantastic!
I used it on My Asparagus and Tomato Salad. It was great. It added a nice nutty flavor. I used about 1/3 Hemp Oil and 2/3 of Olive Oil. I almost used the Hemp Seeds too, but figured that might be over kill. I have been using seeds on all my salads though. If you use a really acid based dressing you can barely taste them, but if you use a light dressing they really make the salad. They are really tiny and you can sneak them in too!

Badger Balm! Review and Giveaway

Oh Yumtastic! if you are looking for some summer soothing for your lips you have hit the jackpot! I know I did! A Dog’s Life Photo Contest! Custom Dog Treats Giveaway

I know I have a lot of dog owner readers, so listen up fur baby moms and dads! This is a fun contest and there is even a review!
First I got to give my dogs Organic Apple Pie every day for the last month whenever we left the house. How fun is that?
