iPosture Review

Everyone slouches from time to time, but it always seems even harder when on a computer. Or for me, i sit on the couch most of the time and write from my laptop, which in my opinion is a huge no no for slouching, it just makes it too easy!

I was really happy when I was informed I was going to be able to review the iPosture. So what is it you ask? It is a about a quarter in diameter, but slightly thicker and it vibrates when you lose your proper posture. It comes along with two spare 3-volt Lithium batteries, a Quickstart Guide, two sheets of double-sided adhesive stickers, a red velveteen carrying case, a tool to help with getting out batteries and of course, a copy of Young, Sexy and Healthy. The device itself is about a 1-inch diameter of white plastic with a pressure sensitive front, it comes loaded with a battery, and is outfitted with a wire clip for fastening.

The iPosture can be worn three ways: clipped onto the clothing or a necklace via the aforementioned wire clip, or adhered directly to the body using the included stickers. I personally like the adhesive method most it works really well. It really doesn’t work well with most of my necklaces, I don’t have a simple chain, but the bra strap method also worked really well. Now if you are only wearing a tshirt you would need to find another way to wear, you have to have it close to your body, not on loose clothing. All three methods actually seem to allow the device to function about the same.

First you stand or sit on the proper position then press the device, it should vibrate once, letting you know it is ready. It does warn not to be too proper the first couple times around! Then whenever you have been out of proper alignment (the one you set!) for 60 seconds it will vibrate to remind you to sit up!

This device is great! Yes at times it can be pretty annoying to be told to sit up straight but this is for a good cause, your health! back and body! Not to mention it will strengthen belly muscle it you have been a big ol slouch like me. No it will not give you six pack abs but it will help!

A few facts about Posture: Waist size is reduced by about 2 inches on Women who improve their posture! WOW! And Men with good posture are seen as more successful!

Women with good posture are less likely to end up with Osteoporosis Fractures. (now if that isn’t a reason to straighten up I don’t know what is!)

People with good posture are generally happier and more confident.

Overall I really am loving it. It would be great for piano teachers to use on students. ha! It does what it is supposed to and is VERY easy to use, plus with extra batteries it is really nice deal.

They are running a special right now, and you can get an iPosture for $64.95. Overall a good investment if you have the cash to spare right now, or if you have really bad posture and back pain.

Amy’s Organics Cake Review and Live Contest!

Holy moses, have i reached blog heaven! I get to review and eat cake! WHOOHOO!!! Organic, vegan, all natural cake at that!

I really should have taken a picture of the cakes, but they were gone FAST! They came delivered on dry ice, and they are in a box and you simply take them out of the box and leave them in the refrigerator for a couple hours until they thaw.

I first was anxious to try the Orange cake I was sent. It was so moist and delectable! You could serve these and no one would believe you that they aren’t homemade! that is how good they are! I had one piece and had to go back and have another immediately. i didn’t use any frosting or topping, it just simply did not need a thing!

We also tried the chocolate cake. I know the mister was anxious for this one. But after the Orange cake I was too! Even though I am not a chocolate fanatic, I love cake! This was perfect, moist and chocolately but not too sweet. We are HUGE fans here. These cakes are only, SRP $3.89 – $4.49/11oz. And remember they are Organic and VEGAN, no dairy in these puppies, or egg.

I have always loved Amy’s Soups and frozen dinners but now I have cake to add to my list! they have full meals, such as VEGGIE LOAF WHOLE MEAL and a Veggie Pot Pie! YUM!

Make it Monday! Tuna and Cannellini Bean Salad

It is getting close enough to spring that we all start eating more Spring like dishes! I think this is great to take to work or to have as an easy peasy dinner! I would definitely do mine over a nice salad, maybe sprinkle with some redwine vinegar.

Ingredients: (organic when you can!)

* 1 large lemon
* 2 can(s) (15 to 19 ounces each) white kidney beans (cannellini), rinsed and drained
* 1 jar(s) (4 ounces) sliced pimientos, drained
* 3 tablespoon(s) olive oil
* 2 tablespoon(s) dried parsley flakes
* 1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
* 1/8 teaspoon(s) coarsely ground pepper
* 1 can(s) (12 ounces) tuna in oil, drained and flaked

Directions

* 1. From lemon, finely grate 1 teaspoon peel and squeeze 3 tablespoons juice.
* 2. In medium serving bowl, combine lemon peel and juice, cannellini beans, pimientos, olive oil, parsley, salt, and pepper. Gently stir in tuna to serve.

Tips & Techniques

To add seasonal flair to this simple salad: Stir in cherry tomatoes or chopped fresh herbs such as basil or rosemary. Serve over a bed of mixed greens, arugula, watercress or baby spinach. Steam 8 ounces of fresh green beans and toss with the salad. Cut tops from 4 large tomatoes; hollow out centers and fill tomato shells with the tuna salad.

I was fortunate enough to be able to try out John Master’s Moroccan Clay Purifying Mask. I was surprised at how little I needed to spread it all over my face. As you all know I suffer from acne and this really dug in deep and cleaned out my pores, with out any irritation at all. Some clay masks are pretty gritty, especially natural ones, this is smooth and soft. It also doesn’t take a blowdryer to dry! i know you feel me there, when you put a mask on then it takes so long to dry you are waving a magazine in front of your face or turning on the blowdryer! No need, this isn’t a normal thick mask, it is lighter, and obviously more pure. A true winner for my beauty cabinet! (err, cabinets) it not only helps clean you up but helps inflammation and collagen building as well

Wake N Bake Wednesday~ Polenta and Black Bean Casserole

Ingredients:
* 3/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
* 2 4-ounce cans diced green chilies, drained
* 1/4 cup canned salsa verde (tomatillo salsa) (HERDEZ is the BEST!) usually in the spanish section in little cans.
* 3 large garlic cloves, minced
* 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
* 1 16-ounce purchased polenta roll, cut into 18 rounds OR you can use Corn tortillas.
* 1/2 cup whipping cream, sub sour cream or low fat even if you wish.
* 1 15-ounce can black beans, well drained
* 1 15-ounce can golden hominy, well drained
* 3 cups coarsely grated Monterey Jack cheese (about 10 ounces)

Position rack in middle of oven and preheat to 450°F. Oil 11×7x2-inch glass baking dish. Mix 1/2 cup cilantro, chilies, salsa verde, garlic, and cumin in medium bowl. Arrange 9 polenta rounds in bottom of dish, spacing evenly. Drizzle 1/4 cup cream over. Top with half of beans, half of hominy, and half of chili mixture. Sprinkle with 1 1/2 cups cheese. Repeat layering. Cover with foil. Bake 20 minutes. Increase oven temperature to 475°F; uncover casserole and bake until top is golden brown, about 15 minutes longer. Let stand 5 minutes; sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup cilantro and serve.

Pair with a fresh salad and you one awesome meal, this could be great for Friday’s during Lent.
