Flip and Tumble Review and Giveaway

February 9, 2009 by Karissa

CLOSED!!!

When I first opened Flip and Tumble the package, i showed it to the mister and said, “no more excuses mister!” He thought it was a stress ball! hha! It is a tiny little ball.

I mean really look how little these little boogers are when they are all wrapped in their cocoon?

It literally takes 5 seconds to take it from bag to ball! or vice versa. The mister went shopping to get some grub so he could make our favorite dish today, um, one of our favorite dishes, carne asada tacos and he fit a half gallon of milk, an avocado, 3 tomatoes, 6 limes, sour cream, cheese, tortillas, the beef, and a box of cereal! WOW!!!

Plus Flip and Tumble have a recycling program so when you use up your bag eventually you can send it to them and they will recycle it for you!

So think about it. No zippers. no bulky bag. you can have the bag stashed in your purse or in your glove box at all times! You never have a reason to need those pesky “flying in the trees” plastic bags again!

So Flip and Tumble has generously offered one reader to win a lime/sky bag! so cute!
here is a pic.

So how to win:
Go to Flip and Tumble and tell me something you learned there or what kind of bag is right for you, yes they have a section for that. You must do this in order to be eligible for extra entries.

Ok beauties! READ YOUR LABELS!!

I know you have heard the saying, “judge a book my it’s cover” and that is the same with beauty products too! If something umm, say L’Oreal’s new product like EverPure shampoos and conditioners state that don’t contain Sulfates , while I applaud them on their efforts in taking a step please be advised their are so many other nasty chemicals in these products it is hardly healthy.

I would copy and post the ingredient listing but it from a flash website and I can’t read or pronounce half of the ingredients! which generally means, eww yuck.

you can go back and reread my post here, or if you are new read it for the first time! it is full of ingredients you best want to avoid.

And always keep this in mind. I know how much an overhaul it is to change out everything, so start with things you put on your whole body everyday. Lotions, body wash, deodorants. You probably will not find replacements at the drugstore. I love Kiss My Face, Garden of Eve, 100% Pure, and of course i adore Miessence so much I am now a rep! if you want to purchase from me there is a link right here!

Nimli carries Pet, designer, women, kid, men, lifestyle, beauty and bath items that are all either green, natural or organic!
all come various (GREAT) designers that all all eco-friendly. Some are organic but all are green in their own very fashionable way. The company has so much, trust me you can get totally lost shopping, but that is ok! it is all earth friendly! 8-)
Just look at this Pashmina Shawl!

How gorgeous is that? My mom just trialed this for me and she LOVES it! Read more for how you can win one in their new patterned variety!! it is made of silk and Pashmina. you can dress up any outfit with this!
The one you can win is orchid (lavender) and has an awesome flower pattern on it! They have 101 colors! Made from Silk and Pashmina, LUXURY!

I also stumbled across this bag, is it not the cutest? Here is another item I received and tried out. it is a little piece of heaven.

I received it after I had already showered so i plunked down on the rim of the tub and went to work! I Scrubz’d my feet and hands (don’t forget the hands ladies!) I loved it! the scent is beautiful! It is a sugar based scrub that is blended with 9 natural oils! i am usually not a fan of sugar scrubs because the sugar dissolves so fast but this one was made well! not too runny. Just right. Just stay out of the water!
And guess what? I have an extra one to giveaway!

The next item up is this adorable tee shirt, Stop Wars, that looks like the Star Wars old school shirts. I just love it! In addition to being 100% American-made and sweatshop free, this shirt is also manufactured with 100% organic cotton, meaning no pesticides are used in the crops growth. and this is also a giveaway item. The shirt I have to offer you is a size SMALL. It is also a ladies fit so keep that in mind.

The next item I received from Nimli was this awesome bar of chocolate. Ok I must confess something. But first you have to promise you won’t think less of me? Promise? really PROMISE?

I don’t like chocolate. ahhh. I finally told you. I know I know, how weird. I chick who doesn’t like chocolate. i like chocolate chip cookies but if asked the cake I want at a birthday party I always opt for yellow or white. Don’t get my wrong I have a mean sweet tooth but not a choco fan. Now back to the item at hand. Nimli sent me this awesome bar of chocolate, Bloomsberry & Co Climate Change Chocolate Milk. It is wrapped with all this eco/green tips such as, “eating more vegetarian meals and eating less meat reduces carbon emmissions and gives you an excuse to try new recipes.” Pretty cool huh? And the mister is really diggin the chocolate.
And I have one of these for you! All Natural, Premium, Kosher Milk chocolate (34% cocoa)

Ok for the contest I have split this so that there will be three winners.
1 winner for the Pashmina Shawl Wrap
1 winner for the Scrub and Chocolate bar
1 Winner for the Stop Wars Tee

Ok for entry!
~Go to Nimli and tell me something you like. Don’t tell me what the person above you said. 8-) This is a must, if you don’t do this your extra entries will not count. Wake-N-Bake Wednesday! Cranberry Orange Scones!

February 4, 2009 by Karissa
Filed under Recipes: Home, Skin, Food

Who doesn’t love a good scone? Maybe you should enjoy these with some fair trade organic coffee? YUM! Craig and I had these last week. I think, um, no I know that I ate over half of them. what can I say, working at a bakery for over 6 years, my baking kinda rocks! haha!

These really are easy! Don’t let the word scone intimidate you!

Prep Time: 25 minutes

Servings: 10

Ingredients:

As always use organic when possible please, for you and me!

2 cups flour
10 teaspoons sugar, divided
1 tablespoon grated orange peel
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
5 tablespoons cold butter, cut into pieces
1 egg
1 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup orange Juice
1/4 cup Half and Half
1 tablespoon Milk

Instructions:

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Combine flour, 7 teaspoons of the sugar, orange peel, baking powder, salt and baking soda in a large bowl. Use a pastry cutter or two knives to cut in butter until the pieces are about the size of sunflower seeds.

Beat egg in a small bowl. Stir in cranberries, orange juice and half-and-half until well-combined. Stir wet mixture into dry mixture until barely combined.

Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead lightly 6 to 8 times. Pat dough into an 8-inch circle and slice into 10 equal wedges with a sharp knife (or cut out rounds with a biscuit cutter).

Place scones on an ungreased baking sheet, brush with milk and sprinkle with remaining sugar. Bake until high and golden, 12-15 minutes.

Nurture My Body Organics Eye Cream Review

February 2, 2009 by Karissa

I first came to know Nurture My Body by Twitter. Oh you know the Social media 140 character site? You can follow me in the right hand column top.

Anyways, once Rich and I made our realization that we were in the same business of “greening” up the world I knew I wanted to feature Nurture My Body on PrissyGreen!

Rich sent me a sample of their Organic Eye cream. It came in the most beautiful packaging! and it came FAST too! It was wrapped in beautiful gold paper and had a small lavender bundle attached with a Nurture My Body sticker. It really made my day! It was lovely. My mister works from home and before I unwrapped it all, I made him take a look. (I am a sucker for pretty packaging!) You can get their eye cream scented or unscented. I chose scented but if you are sensitive I do suggest getting unscented. It has a lovely smell. Maybe lavender and chamomile? It really does smell delicious! I would love it all over! It is rich enough to work all day but it is non greasy so you can wear it under makeup, and not get raccoon eyes.
I don’t have crows feet (yet) but have extremely dry skin under my eyes and some wrinkles under them for sure! I have to admit, I am loving the way my eyes look! My dark circles have noticeably lightened too! I can’t say they have gone away, and I don’t think even my mother would notice but you know us women! We look at ourselves EVERYDAY! I have been asked before if I had black eyes, because my circles are so dark! HA!!!

Nurture My Body has a VAST assortment of anything you desire, hair care, baby care, skin care for the body and face and they also offer sample sets and gift baskets!

They even have a contest going on right now for a gift basket right now! Head on over and check them out and please let them know I PrissyGreen sent you!

And how sweet is this! Rich has also offered to my readers a 15% discount! just set up an account and then enter prissygreen in the promo field at checkout! This will last the ENTIRE month of February and you can use it as many times as you would like! How sweet is that? Plus they always have free shipping for orders over $75! Get on this!!!
again you will have to set up an account with Nurture My Body and then just enter in prissygreen in the promo field at check out!
