See my updated post with my spin on Obama’s Chili recipe, I think you will like it!
Whether you voted for Very Soon to Be President Barack Obama or not, I think you must agree with me, that we have to support him and our country at this very trying time. Throw away your indifference and be an American.
This has been BO’s staple potluck favor since his college days. We haven’t tried it yet but I know a few who have and loved it. I think I might talk the mister into making some today….
The Almost President says: “I can’t reveal all the secrets, but if you make it right, it’s just got the right amount of bite, the right amount of oomph in it and it will clear your sinuses.”
1 large onion, chopped
Several cloves of garlic, chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground turkey or beef
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon ground oregano
1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
1/4 teaspoon ground basil
1 tablespoon chili powder
3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
Several tomatoes, depending on size, chopped
1 can red kidney beans
Saute onions, green pepper and garlic in olive oil until soft. Add ground meat and brown. Combine spices together into a mixture, then add to ground meat. Add red wine vinegar. Add tomatoes and let simmer, until tomatoes cook down. Add kidney beans and cook for a few more minutes.
Serve over white or brown rice. Garnish with grated cheddar cheese, onions and sour cream.

You’ve got my taste buds jumping. I was thinking about chili yesterday. Thanks for sharing!
oh and i also added a can of chili beans along with the can of kidney beans the recipe called for, and i used ground turkey instead of beef. i just snuck a bite and it’s good stuff! thanks for sharing this recipe!
ok, got my chili simmering and it smells incredible! if his presidential skills are anything like his chili making skills, we have nothing but good things in store! oh and i did vary from the original recipe a bit – i didn’t have any ground basil and i also added 1/2 cup of heineken dark. chili ain’t chili till it has a bit of beer in it!
